You don't see the flaw in this argument? So the Jets are mad that Trouba isn't helping them win, so when he changes his mind their going to be petty and not want him to come back to help them win? I don't think that's how it works with competitive athletes .

Are you giving your opinion as a competitive athlete? :)

I didn't say they wouldn't want him to come back and help win. I said they are probably resentful. Hockey is a team sport. Trouba appears to be a "me first" kind of player. Read Perreault's comments again, and even Little's. This is what they said to the camera. What do you think they are saying when the camera is off?

Yes it's a perfect job. Going into a season without a key player, getting nothing out of him or for him and being in 7th place in your division certainly deserves applause.

Boy he's really sticking it to Trouba and showing him!
Getting assets that don’t help us IS “giving him away for nothingâ€. What is so difficult to understand about this? Why are people trying to argue we give him away for nothing in order to avoid giving him away for nothing, this has to be the stupidest line of reasoning I’ve ever seen.

Retaining control of the player > getting assets that don’t help us
End of story, so stop complaining that no one is willing to comply with your wishful thinking and take “assets†that are worthless to us.

Isn't the whole problem the fact that your "#2 Dman" has two other RHD blocking him?

Naw.

Myers gets the small amount of PP time left over after Byfuglien takes his bite, but Trouba gets similar, albeit tougher, minutes to Myers.

As far as I can tell, both Myers and, to a lesser extent, Trouba stink on the PP.

They lack both the puck skills and thinking/creativity of Byfuglien.

No interest in Flower from Jets end especially with his NMC, if he would even waive to come to us in the first place. As for myself I'd have more interest in picks and other prospects plus whatever cap dump you need to make. But Chevy likely doesn't want futures.

Not surprising. Buff is without a doubt the most unique player in the NHL. No one else really has his skillset. Love that guy.

MAF+ Maatta to Winnipeg

Trouba to Penguins

I like the base but that's not enough coming back to the Penguins.

You don't get a Top 4 dman and a #1 goalie for an unsigned top 4 dman.

Need a pick, goalie, or good prospect coming back.

Serious counter:

MAF+Maatta+Wilson

for

Trouba+Pavalec+Dano

Trouba = Maatta
Pavalec <<< MAF
Dano > Wilson

Or

MAF+Maatta

for

Trouba+Pavs+B. Lemieux

Myers isn’t great but I don’t agree that Buff is substantially better than Trouba in that spot especially going forward as you want that player to set up Laine instead of taking the shot themselves.

Doesn't work, as Fleury's NMC forces us to lose Hellebuyck for free. There's also no point to tweak the deal in any way, as you have Murray to protect.

Yikes, no.

Maatta is a shell of the player he was initially projected to be; he appears to be damaged goods from afar - based upon his play.

The Jets don't need MAF and will be most likely be protecting Hellebuyck in the expansion draft.

Wide pass. I'd picket the MTS Centre on a daily basis if that was the trade return for Trouba.

Trade conditional on him waiving his NMC for exp draft.

It still makes no sense for you, and we add a ton of cap - more than we can take, actually. And it sucks to say, but I think Määttä has taken too much damage in the past few years to be the defenseman he could've been. It's not nice, and I'm saying this as a Finn, so it's not like I'm happy with it. But I would not take Määttä back for Trouba anymore. How much will he regress, no idea. But it's definitely not looking good now.

There's no fit between us two.

I wonder if this has all been about signing bonuses and lockout protection all along. The Jets have done very little of that.

How does this jive with the report that the Jets asked Overhardt for a number that Trouba would sign for and he refused to even talk terms?

Nothing to see here, he was talking about Jakob Trouba not Jacob Trouba

and not to mention we are paying with PIT money " may have pit their money " arm pit money?

Looks like a feeble attempt to get people to listen to his pod cast.

Yeah it's pretty sad that Eklund can't even spell his name correctly, Loses all credibility right there.

The Jets need to trade Trouba ASAP?

Nah we can wait it out until he signs or a good offer comes through.

Well what if someone offersheets him?

Then we match or accept the multiple first round picks depending on what the offer is.

Well what if he doesn't sign by Dec 1st?

Then he sits

Well then you're never going to get the proper value for him

We already aren't getting proper value for him.

Well then how do you fix the hole in your lineup?

Morrissey

What if he sucks???

Then we cross that bridge

Look here's my offer of $.75 for your dollar

No

But his value is going to PLUMMET

Then we cross that bridge when it happens

Chevy is killing the Jets and has no idea what he's doing

Ownership has his back

But what if ownership is also idiots

.............then we cross that bridge

We're only a few steps away from "But why male models?"

That's not all on you but I am trying my best to sum up the last few months.

Sums it up nicely. Funny, fans from other teams/cities are more worried then we are.

Very nice of them to care and all, but all the back seat GMs should leave it to an actual GM. Relax people loads of Time left, I said from the start this won't be resolved until late Nov, just before the cutoff. It's all business, negotiations and getting the biggest return possible.

Well done Chevy

How do we know? The Jets have been *VERY* stingy with signing bonuses. Signing bonuses seem to be the trend lately especially lockout protection.

Educated guess

I suspect this has been posted, but for those who think the GM has to trade trouba

That's exactly what the vast majority of Jets fans have been saying since the start. No rush, relax, it's a process. Both sides are playing hardball, what Overhardt might not of considered, Chevy CAN'T blink first. So Chevy will get the return he likes (this may not be only a lhd) or Trouba signs or he sits out the entire year. People need to understand this is about more then just Trouba, this is about setting the precedent for all future players who think they can force the Jets into doing what the player wants at the cost of the team. Jets cannot back down.

There isn't a single thing I would change in how Chevy has/is handling this situation.
