I don't think Trouba gets traded anywhere. Chevy waited what was it, like a year before making his first trade when he started with the Jets? The guy clearly has patients lol, and I don't see him allowing a RFA with little to no leverage to dictate how he runs his team. If he doesn't get what he needs in a trade he just wont do it, nor should he. Either Trouba signs and plays before Dec.1 or he doesn't play at all. Unless a team comes outta the woodwork with a fair value deal, which also seems unlikely at this point.

OK, how about this then: team has 95% of the leverage; Trouba has 5%. Thats about what your "some" is worth.

Not "literally zero" like I said. And man all that leverage is doing wonders for the Jets. Mastermind Chevy is really doing an excellent job of actually winning isn't he.

He will end up with the Jets once he gets his head out of his A%^. Ridiculous that a player who is not an UFA wants the benefit of being one and get to dictate where he goes, what position he plays and so forth. Most teams won't take him just based upon the principle of it and not wanting to start a trend of this kind of S%^t and giving in to brats.

This was always going to be a developmental year.

Chevy is using his leverage just fine. He is waiting until the deal he wants materializes.

Why does it bother you if the Jets are winning or not?

If that's the case, it should be Chevy's last year. A GM who can't turn the players and especially D he has into at least an 8th seed deserves to be canned.

The fact is we have 4 rookies being integrated into the lineup.

They made it clear this was a developmental year. This is not a surprise to Jets fans.

The only people making an issue of this is people who have no clue what's going on with the Jets.

We're fine with the plan. We understand there are some growing pains happening right now.

We thought we'd have Trouba but he decided to take his ball and go home. So he can stay there until Chevy can get a deal that will bolster the d.

It's almost like the GM could have done something about that.

Speaking as an Oilers fan, there's zero "plan" that calls for missing the playoffs for out of five years in Winnipeg and 14 out of 16 seasons overall as a franchise. That's incompetence from top to bottom, and shouldn't be excused. But do, by all means- it makes the West an easier place to play.

We thought we'd have Trouba but he decided to take his ball and go home. So he can stay there until Chevy can get a deal that will bolster the d.

And if that's never? Again, the pressure should be on Chevy to resolve this as it's a means to the end of competing for a playoff spot. But if the fans and ownership aren't pushing for that, I guess then Trouba can and will sit at home through Christmas.

Lol,an Edmonton fan calling Jets management incompetent.

Why don't you go look at what our roster was, and what our prospect pool looked like when we inherited this team from Atlanta. Then look at what we have now.

If there is any franchise in the last decade that has been more mismanaged then the oilers, I don't know what it is.

I'd say the Leafs, but the Leafs haven't had the luxury of draft picks over and over and over again that the Oilers have had. Oilers are the biggest embarrassment the last decade.

As for your comment, "pressure should be on Chevy to resolve this"..
Chiarelli trade of Hall For much lesser value was an act of pressure. I'd much rather our GM do what's actually best than accept something like what Chia did. So would the majority of our fans.

Right, because I know what it looks like. Chevy is incompetent.

Great, shiny prospects for tomorrow... been there too. I remember the Jani Rita and Marc Pouliot days, the Nilsson and Gagner days... etc. etc.

What matters is how the team performs on the ice, and Winnipeg hasn't done that. To throw away yet another year is unthinkable.

If there is any franchise in the last decade that has been more mismanaged then the oilers, I don't know what it is.

I'd say the Leafs, but the Leafs haven't had the luxury of draft picks over and over and over again that the Oilers have had. Oilers are the biggest embarrassment the last decade.

And again, that imbues me with the experience to know what a poorly-run team looks like. 2 playoff appearances in over 15 years of existence is the very definition of mismanagement. You can sling mud all you like, but the facts are what they are.

As for your comment, "pressure should be on Chevy to resolve this"..

Chiarelli accepted the best return he could to advance the team. His club is now 5-1, having embarrassed yours during its showcase event of the year. He's also got a Cup ring from having helmed a previously successful franchise renovation.

Chevy? Well, he has... the support of Jets fans. That's something I guess.

Dekeyser is an average #4, Mantha isn't much of a prospect, so yeah, there'd better be a first there. Still quantity for quality.

Boy, you're going to be so disappointed with the return for Trouba once he's finally moved.

Well, according to the hockey insiders, there is no shortage of teams interested in Trouba even now and the Jets aren't on a deadline to make a trade. So, Chevy will get what he wants or he won't make a trade.

There are 30 teams interested in Trouba, so what? 3/4 of them would require a cap dump going to the Jets as part of the deal. There are 4 or 5 teams that have enough young assets/picks to make a deal work, fit Trouba into their cap space, and not force the team to lose a valuable player in expansion. The reality is the list is pretty short for Trouba buyers. Chevy isn't dumb enough to make him sit and get nothing in return only to be in the same place next summer but with an even less return.

Trouba is going to sign a bridge deal before December 1st and then be traded soon afterwards

Yes, how do they possibly survive with such youth as 31-year-old Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom in key positions, not to mention the almost embryonic 26-year-old Tyler Myers?

Hint: the Jets have a pretty good young D sitting at home just waiting to be moved.

Also, as GM, Chevy had and has the opportunity to acquire myriad other defenders if he did not feel the current group good enough to compete. Just because he's too inept to do so doesn't mean this needed to be a "development year". It's like us Oiler fans constantly excusing Lowe, Tambellini and MacT for not doing anything of note year after year; eventually, you realize it's the man and not the market who refuses to make a trade.

I honestly don't get how fans of other teams don't get that trading Trouba for a crap return hurts the Jets more than letting him sit and trading him when they get proper value in return. I guess it's just other teams fans desperately hoping that they'll get a great deal on a player, as if discussions on this website had any bearing on what is going to happen in the real world.

We're a draft and develop team. They told us that from the start.

Trades will happen when necessary. Not when some clueless Edmonton fan decides.

If proper value is a LD of similar age and abilities as Trouba I don't care how long your GM waits that's not going to happen
I think at the moment that Chevy is hoping to break Trouba and force him back onto the team since his ask is highly unlikely to eventuate
It will work to unless Trouba signs a contract and completely dogs it and forces your GMs hand

There is no resolution until he signs, sits, or is traded. We are all speculating until something happens, we all have the same "basis". When guys publicly want out, the return goes down, just the way it works.
So we could have got even more for Kane if the media hadn't caught on that he wanted out? Nashville would have paid more than Seth Jones for Johanssen?

What you're saying might be true if our GM cared about winning this year. He doesn't. He told us a long time back that we're going to be leaning heavily on 1st and 2nd year players this season. Ownership and the fans are good with this. We very well could be drafting high enough again this season to replace Trouba next year with an 18 year old.

The reason Chevy is asking for a top end LHD isn't because we desperately need one, but because that's about the only place we can make room for a guy. Morrissey in his rookie season is looking really really good. Not quite replacing Trouba good, but it's only 5 games in.

Seeing the quality of players we've got up front, and the level our young AHL guys are playing at, I'd seriously consider trading Trouba for the best collection of picks we can get and offersheeting Lindholm with our own picks.

You do know they are different management teams? Cities? Your "facts" are have an agenda and it's not a very good one.

It's more than a non fan with a poorly informed opinion. Those fans pay the bills. EdmontonExpress doesn't. Thanks for the concern :sarcasm:

I blame the EA NHL hockey line. It's made a lot of fans believe they could GM a team.

Have we discussed Shattenkirk? This idea is kind of crazy but possible.

Trouba
for
Shattenkirk (plus something)

One of two things will happen...

(A) Winnipeg will re-trade Shattenkirk to a team looking to play him as a top pair RD.

(B) Winnipeg will move Myers or Byfuglien and extend Shattenkirk to be a top 4 RD in Winnipeg long term.

Shattenkirk discusses this with Cheveldayoff before the trade (with permission from STL) and agrees that so long as A or B happen by the trade deadline, he is willing to play on his off-side for the time being.

Enstrom - Byfuglien
Shattenkirk - Myers

Winnipeg's endgame here is a quality LHD for Trouba. Chevy either trades Shattenkirk for a LHD, or for several good assets which can be used to bring in a quality LHD. Or he extends Shattenkirk amd moves Myers/Byfuglien for a LHD.

And Blues D still looks great.

Bouwmeester - Pietrangelo
Edmundson - Trouba
Gunnarsson - Parayko

There is no way in Hell the Jets are giving up 4 years of Trouba for a UFA to be Shattenkirk, give your head a shake.
