What's wrong about the speculation I put forward? The average, casual Jets fan has little to no idea how good (or at times, even who) Lindholm is. Hence he's undervalued by the vast majority of the fanbase.
to be fair, the Jets arent the Bolts and winnipeg manitoba is not tampa bay florida
the quality of the team and the beautiful weather may have had a helping hand
Detroit still has some insanely rich suburbs, and he sort of grew up there, played Jr hockey on the outskirts, and went to university for a year outside it.Yeah good call, I'm sure Trouba would only want to play in a noted beautiful city like Detroit, on a franchise that's clearly on the ups like the Wings!
Where you seem to be going wrong is forgetting that Trouba is similarly undervalued. In fact his lower QoT make the situation even worse. IOW this isn't a case of Jets fans underestimating Lindholm, it's a case of you making the mistakes you accuse other of and underestimating Trouba. What's wrong about the speculation I put forward? I live in the Winnipeg market. I don't undervalue his value or his importance to the team. I was responding to (multiple) posts asking why Jets fans undervalue Fowler. No where in my posts did I mention Trouba--or his value in comparison to Fowler--so how you came to that conclusion is beyond me.
You just said that the Winnipeg (via Toronto) media is negligent on reporting on Western D-men, though.
I guess it needs to be said, since the dots aren't being connected here: this is true for markets outside of Canadian teams in the western conference; of course Jets fans aren't going to undervalue their players
Trouba was never mentioned by me--so why bother bring up his name?
Because it's a Trouba thread?

Yzerman looks like a genius after settling things with Drouin the hard way. I'm expecting Chevy to do the same.
Drouin was under contract, trouba isn't.
There's some weird jabs being thrown around.
Sure - but did Stevie Y have the same 'ticking clock' scenario Chevy and Troubadour face?
Figure out a solution by Dec. 1 or you both lose-?
I wonder if Yzerman - or Drouin - would had let things play out how they did with a hard deadline looming versus several months to wait it out.
No, he didn't. The longer this goes on it becomes less likely with each day that Trouba signs.
Can a sign and trade happen?

Jets have to be thinking to themselves what the odds are that Trouba changes his mind, and decides to stay in WPG. Yzerman won that gamble in Tampa, but I think it was a different case there.
If Trouba really doesn't want to play in WPG, why keep him around? An unhappy player is a drag on the team. This idea of "punishing" him somehow is silly, especially when it hurts your own team. Move him for the best possible value...don't get hung up on this similarly aged and talented LHD, which limits your return.
