You obviously do not understand.
If Cheveldayoff forces Trouba to sit, all of those agents for their young players will be terrified of him for the next two seasons he is employed by the Jets. That's two seasons worth of all agents being terrified of his negotiating pimp hand. And once Chevy is fired, as all general managers eventually are, his sheer ferocity will linger within the halls of the MTS Center and no agent will ever make demands of them again.
The added bonus will be all those agents calling two weeks before each draft and telling Chevy not to draft their clients. That will be the stupid agents falling right into Chevy's trap, as he will draft whomever he pleases and exert his indomitable will upon those agents and players for the next two seasons until they re-enter the draft, Pejorative Sluring their development and showing who is king of the negotiating table once again. Once more, a win for the Jets, a win for Cheveldayoff and a win for Jets fans everywhere.
And when the NHLPA declares jihad on the Jets and holds that grudge long past the day Chevy is fired? Another flawless victory for the Jets! Any new general manager will have to assume the strained relationships between the Players Association, agents and the team. No weak willed candidate will want that headache, thus ensuring the Jets will only have the toughest, most focused management possible.
Truly, Trouba demanding a trade has set the Jets up perfectly for the foreseeable future. You just have to drill down a bit to see it.
