Honestly a baseline of:
Anaheim: JVR
Winnipeg: Fowler
Toronto: Trouba

Makes a lot of sense for all parties with a few additions to be added on a few sides.

This deal definitely benefits Toronto the most, Considering that JVR cost slightly more then Fowler. Plus 4 years of Trouba over only 2 years of Fowler without another add from Anaheim or Toronto i seriously doubt that Cheveldayoff would move Trouba for Fowler alone.

As long as it's not Larkin, DeKeyser or Mrazek, I'd probably trade anyone for Trouba. Smith+ Svech/Mantha/Nyquist/Tatar/Shehan/1st+ Pulks/Jurco

Thats a lot of "nice" pieces but nothing great that Chevy will probably be enamored with.

Pulkkinen/Jurco probably struggle to crack the lineup in WPG with all the prospects they have fighting for spots.

Smith is meh, but no where close to replacing Trouba on the back end so they already take a significant step back on the blue line.

Svech is a complete unknown on how he pans out and likely too far away from NHL action to interest Chevy

Mantha is a nice piece and has shown some flashes on the NHL level, but still far from a sure thing. Opinions seem to sway on what he will be on the NHL level

Nyquist IMO disappears too much and with his salary at $4.75 mil per, that might be too rich for what he brings, especially if paired with Smith, thats $7.5 mil in salary WPG is taking in return. THey might as well just throw $7 per at Trouba which Im sure he would take and run to the bank with

Sheahan is a nice bottom 6 player, but I dont think he helps get a deal done unless he is a 4th piece of a large package

Tatar is a nice add, but he is an upcoming RFA after this year likely getting a big raise, so it would be the same situation as Nyquist. If paired with Smith, the money going back to WPG is just too much, especially since they are a budget conscious team that wont spent to the ceiling

Theres a lot of quantity options here, but not as much quality going back IMO

I dont think you want to trade an A rated player for several C+/B- players

While I'll acknowledge this may be a "baseline" for a deal, it would require the Jets getting a significant plus in addition to Fowler. No way Chevy gives up Trouba and only gets Fowler. High end LHD prospect as the plus, might make it more acceptable otherwise no thx.

Would you sit out if someone gives you tax free 3 millions for a season from Dec->March? I wouldn't.

[MOD]

I would expect him to go overseas in December if he doesn't have an NHL contract. It isn't like he would sign a multi year deal. Like you said 4 months and a couple million. Heck yeah, sign me up.

It wouldn't be tax free. He would have to pay taxes in the United States on his earnings over seas I believe.

Don't mind that poster. They are a serial regurgitatior and will probably make a later post that contradicts what that one said.

Nothing changes though. Jets still control his RFA rights for 4 years.

I hope I don’t regret this, but here goes nothing:

WPG gets: Jonas Brodin, Gustav Nyquist, Ryan Sproul
MIN gets: Riley Sheahan, Alexander Burmistrov
DET gets: Jacob Trouba, Andrew Copp

- Detroit moves out nearly $7M in cap (enough to sign Trouba?), and gets another Michigan kid to replace Sheahan as a bottom-6 center.
- Minnesota gets depth at center, with virtually no change in cap.
- Winnipeg get a top 4 LHD to (eventually) replace Enstrom, a RHD prospect to add to the pipeline, and a solid top-6 RW to push Stafford down to the third line while clearing up some of their logjam at forward. They bring in almost $9M in cap, but send out $2.5M – assuming Trouba was going to get around $6M would make the trade cap-neutral.

The part about Red Wings said that it involved 2 high level forwards, but Holland refused (which is confusing because it suggests that the offer came from Detroit, so maybe they worded it wrong and meant WPG made a counter-offer that involved two Detroit forwards?)

Either way, if WPG wants forwards, then I'm excited because NYR would have a real shot. Dunno why they'd want forwards, but cool. If it's only a LD, all Rangers could offer would be a package around Brady Skjei and I doubt WPG would do it.

Otherwise, I'd offer Miller and Skjei for Trouba. Bit hard to stomach, but screw it, we need RD.

Totally that's why I said additions from some sides mainly Toronto and Anaheim need to be made. The baseline for the core players in the trade would fit each team's needs. One for one for one, the deal doesn't happen.

This Wings fan would accept. Not too sure about the other teams involved but it lets the Wings play AA and Mantha while upgrading our D. I would do it in a heartbeat.

Don't want Fowler. I'd rather get better value in forward(s) than settle for 2 years of Fowler. Then the Jets can flip the forward or trade from their deep forward crop to pick up a better LHD.

Minnesota would NEVER do that.

They wouldnt trade out a top 4 dman cost controlled for 5 more years at $4.1 mil for two bottom six forwards. One who has never cracked 30 points and one who has never cracked 40 pts

They would sooner trade Brodin straight up for a legit scoring top 6 forward

Winnipeg: Brodin
Minnesota: JVR + picks/prospects
Toronto: Trouba

Works as well. Detroit could make a package as well.

When you say that Brodin is "cost controlled" do you mean that you know certainly that you will be overpaying him for the next 5 years?

Not bad return/offer for Trouba. Not ideal, but not terrible either

Done from this Red Wings fan, Brings Detroit kid Jacob Trouba home cuts about $7 million in cap to sign him long term. Gets rid of a potential expansion casualty in Sheahan next summer nicely done.

I don't think Minnesota gets enough of a return for Brodin in that deal.

I miss the days when people actually watched players before evaluating them. That deal is incredibly bad for MINN. Why would they need that crap?
