Pretty sure you don't have a LWer who has scored over 50 points in their career.

Pretty sure the Jets LW this season will include Ehlers, Laine, & Connor, all recent National Men's Team-level players at the World Hockey Championships, all first round draft picks, all aged-20 or under. You couldn't find a team in the NHL that needs Lupul's services any less than do the Winnipeg Jets, FYI.

They wouldn't take him for free.

Jets should just take whatever they can for him before he leaves for free.

Iginla + Gelinas + 3rd sounds good to this avs fan...

This negotiation shouldn't be that hard. I assume Winnipeg has an internal cap and they are trying to stay within it.

Every Jets fan here and I'm sure Jets management. Go peddle Lupul elsewhere. We have no need or want for him here.

Oh Damn he was offering Lupul? Easy pass, total dump, wouldn't claim the guy.

Lupul......hahaha. Get real lol

Pretty sure you don't have a RW who has scored over 20 points in their career.

I think it will be better if we all just mind our own business.

...but if you want to address that problem, we have a nice Drew Stafford for you. Outscored everyone from your last year's team, available for a cheap price of your second rounder this year.

This is on account of the fact that 2 of our top 3 LWs have never played an NHL game, and our third one just finished his rookie season. Where would the sense be to bring in someone who would push any of those players down the lineup? Or bring in someone just to be pushed down by those players?

And as you are so obsessed with hating everything related to the Jets, why wouldn't we start thinking about Nylander's and Marner's new teams after their ELCs run out and they inevitably want out as soon as they can?

...yeah. Because hating a team/player for whatever stupid reason, and trying to provoke others by doing so is childish. That's why. Wouldn't hurt you if you thought about that for a second.

Why would we discuss the hypothetical when we can discuss the reality?

Got to think Edmonton might start kicking the tires on him soon. Still think the Jets sign him though.

In which part of the thread have we actually had any discussions about the reality? There has not been any real reports about Trouba's negotiations - it's all SPECULATION. I mean, I can speculate about Gardiner considering retirement and Kadri regressing to a fourth liner as much as I want, and it holds about as much genuine facts as anything we have heard so far about Trouba.

Or, is this "the reality which justifies my lowball offer and hating" you're talking about? If so, just leave the thread.

I'm sure they would like to but tell me what they would offer that fills a Jets need and would accept b/c it would be the best offer from all the others team.

Ah yes, because you see so many Morgan Rielly commercials and ads on TV and the interent. Like it's literally imposssible to turn the TV on without seeing Rielly whor*** himself out.

Yes, lets pretend that one of the Leaf's best young players who just signed a long term deal has ZERO endorsements from signing in Toronto. I'm pretty sure he's got an endorsement deal with CCM if memory serves.

You'll really got a burr under your saddle don't you? I said he could get a ton of endorsements and you took it to another level. Star players get endorsements. Crosby had/has one with Gatoraide. Stamkos had one in Tampa that I'm blanking on. Iginla had one with ATB. Lanny McDonald STILL has one with East Side Dodge in Calgary. I'm not saying it to be an ass, simply a fact.

I actually agree with everything that you said, which is weird for a discussion between the two of us. I do think that the Rielly deal was a steal by Lou, but I thought that would actually be a benefit for the Jets. One of the best ways to influence these negotiations is by pulling comparables. One of the best ones is Rielly. Same draft class, and same sort of top pairing career path. Because out of that draft class Rielly, Trouba and Lindholm are very comparable with each other compared to the rest of the draft class of defenders. I could see them doing what they did with Schiefele and going 8 years. Though personally, the only thing I disagree on is that 8 year AAV. With a 6 year deal you're only buying up 2 UFA years. With 8 years, that's 4. If they go 8, I could see it being in the $6.5M range

I think the absolute cap for Trouba is 8 years 6.125m. I don't see anyway Jets management gives him more than Scheifele

Winnepeg: Lindholm (leftie)

Anaheim: Trouba (rightie) + 2nd

Swapping two guys who haven't resigned yet.

Both get first pairing duties on their respective teams.

Lindholm is one of the players we would trade Trouba for.

If usage really is an issue for him, I wonder if it has more to do with him playing on the left side rather than minutes or D partner? (however playing with Stuart hasn't helped him any).
As a Jets fan I'm not going to sit here and claim there is no issues or that Trouba wants to remain a Jet. I honestly have no idea. There's been a lot of smoke, too much to ignore. In the end I think he does re-sign in WPG and I hope he does, however at this point I wouldn't feel completely blind sided if he is traded, I wouldn't be happy about it, but I wouldn't be surprised either. IF he is in fact available and in play, he would cost a premium to acquire. Untouchable lists would be few and short, and wallets full of valuable assets would be required. No 2nd's, B prospects, over the hill FWD's or the players being offered in every 2nd thread, keep your garbage proposals on your own teams board or in your head.

Ducks say no. It's debatable who will be better eventually but I think Lindholm is definitely the better of the two now. With Fowler most likely being traded, we need the guy that's more ready now.

Again your not reading or understanding my post. :shakehead

Saying if the Oilers "didn't offer one of those deals" then we could find a better deal else where when compared to whatever the would be offering (if it wasn't one of those three deals). Understand now?

If you'd ask that from the Oilers that means that you feel that you could get comparable returns from other teams. Or would your GM just have a special price for us while giving Trouba away for peanuts to another club?

Here's a list of acceptable trade assets in a Trouba trade. Offer one of these, or don't bother.

ANA: Lindholm (or, his rights... yeah. Two can play this game. But realistically, no one.)
ARI: no realistic match
BOS: no one
BUF: no realistic match
CAL: Hamilton
CAR: Hanifin, Faulk
CHI: no one
COL: Johnson
CBJ: Murray, Jones
DAL: no realistic match
DET: no one
EDM: Klefbom, Larsson
FLA: no realistic match
LA: no realistic match
MIN: Brodin/Scandella (heavy additions are needed)
MTL: no one
NSH: Ekholm. And quite a big plus.
NJ: no one
NYI: Hamonic, Leddy
NYR: McDonagh
OTT: Kar... no one
PHI: Provorov
PIT: Määttä with a decent plus
SJ: no realistic match
STL: no realistic match
TB: no realistic match
TOR: Rielly
VAN: Tanev
WSH: no realistic match

Do you think any of these are realistic? No. Do I think that getting Trouba for anything LESS is realistic? No.

Leaving my team out of it, why exactly would the other teams deal the bolded players for Trouba especially is he wants more than the players that he's being dealt for?
