Speculation: Trouba Contract Negotiations not close?

Trouba just needs to come on over to Arizona, where he belongs. It just seems too perfect. He can play on our top pairing next to OEL and our top PP unit. Unfortunately a Trouba type player doesn't usually get traded for a package of peices. If he gets traded, it would probably be a 1 for 1 type deal for an equal caliber player similar to the Seth Jones trade. If for some reason they decide to trade him for a package then I hope Chayka jumps all over this.

I would LOOOOOOOVE for the Leafs to go after Trouba. With that being said, this is probably a bunch of smoke with no fire. High end RFAs have tough negotiations with teams all the time, but almost always sign anyways - the RFA system is designed so that the team can almost certainly keep the player if they want to, and I'm sure the Jets want to keep Trouba.

Kane who aledgedly asked for a trade every off season was in a similar boat and he ended up signing a six year deal in September. RFA negociations can be tough but their options are limited.

You answered your own question. You don't trade 22 y/o d-man with top pairing potential, who has already proved to be a good top 4 for bits and pieces you can pick up just about anywhere for a song.

Why? Would Trouba want to go to Arizona a team that's not much better then the team he's playing for now the Winnipeg Jets. And in what world does Trouba belong in hot Arizona when he's a good ole Michigan boy that's used to the cold weather. First off i seriously doubt that Arizona has the pieces for Trouba right now and is Yotes GM John Chayka willing to commit around $7 million per long term for Trouba in the near future because down the road he will easily get that much.

This all dumb. There are a number of RFAs not signed yet and nobody is losing it over them. See Monahan, Gaudreau ... Just Gary Lawless trying to make a name for himself as usual.

im actually very surprised there isn't a lot more chatter about the flames duo unsigned. Usually when this happens with Canadian teams guys, rival fans LOVE to rag on it... I thought forsure people would be trashing the Flames big time by now

Yeah. Everyone's been pretty quiet about Monahan and Gaudreau not being signed yet. You'd think that Oilers fans would be lapping at that like your dog after the gravy on your dinner plate.

Lindholm is a big piece unsigned on a budget team and crickets from the vultures on him as well? Could it be that sometimes negotiations take time?

Wasn't there some talk about Gaudreau and the Flames "working on the biggest contract in the history of the Flames" back in February?

They're probably adding a 50k bonus per day after that article came out. A way to stand behind their words...

Exactly even Ducks GM Bob Murray pretty much stated that the Lindholm signing could take up to Mid to Late August to get done but it's eventually going to happen.

The Ducks are even more pressed to the cap than the Jets, but given the type of player Lindholm is, they will not let the cap be an issue. So there's not much else to do than wait.

There we go. Stop listening to the nonsense that Gary Lawless spews and enjoy your summer. End thread!

Yes. It's crazy that the Yotes are keeping this much budget open after saying they fired Maloney because he wouldn't use all of the budget space available to him to become competitive. He missed on Hamilton, despite offering a better package of assets than Calgary. So I think Chayka is looking for a big deal like this. $10-12M left in the budget with only Rieder to sign.

Does he have the assets and the personal connections to make it happen? I'm doubtful. Does he have the budget space? Absolutely.

Trouba doesn't warrant a recent top pick. And they are never traded this soon after the draft. Is there one example of a top 4 pick traded the summer after the draft?

Exactly. You're not get an established young player for magic beans, it would be Pool Party + and even then I don't think the Jets would consider it as we don't need forwards in exchange for Trouba.

Puljujarvi for Trouba.

That could be the kind of move that would really put Edmonton in a position to compete.

Puljujarvi is blue chip, no doubt, but still hasn't played an NHL game yet. Risk on both sides but considering the circumstances, I'd do it from both perspectives.

True, we expect atleast a player of Ryan J or hall caliber if wanna trade him... a recent top 4 pick is not enough...
