If there was going to be a Lindholm for Trouba trade what would Winnipeg have to add to even it out?

It's a Jets fan fantasy until someone explains why it makes one iota of sense for Anaheim.

Just from a contract POV it doesn't make sense. If Ducks are too cheap to sign Lindholm they sure won't do it for Trouba unless Lindholm contract demands are much then Trouba's.

I agree very unlikely for multi reasons

Wouldn't the Jets rather have Fowler than Gardiner?

I'd rather have the leafs keep gardiner and work a 3 way with fowler to get trouba

It would be about what the jets could add to Trouba to make it work. We have a lot of assets.

The Ducks need a high end, cheap, scoring left wing. A high end one, that is a very good top six forward.

Hall was probably the only player that fits that and he's no longer available. Would they take a prospect with top 6 potential?

Would Petan fit the bill? He might not be that yet, but the potential is there.

No he clearly is not there yet, and he might never get there, and that is not what the Ducks, a very much 'win now' team, need. I think the addition on Trouba to get Lindholm, when the entire basis makes zero sense for the Ducks, would have to be ridiculously good. Think Ehlers, a guy who actually fits the bill of everything Anaheim needs.

And we would not be adding that to Trouba to get Lindholm

Exactly. Which is why it won't happen and the entire thing is a fantasy.

Anaheim, Minnesota and Philly are probably the only teams that we can realistically make a deal with.

Anaheim can't take on more salary so that option is out. Would Winnipeg consider Brodin that player, maybe Scandella? Who does Philly have on the left side that's available outside of prospects?

Minnesota seems like the only realistic option and I doubt Winnipeg wants to trade Trouba within the division so it looks like they are in almost an impossible spot if they are expecting a proven LHD of similar ability.

Actually, Gardiner+ makes some sense with Toronto having a desperate need for a RHD. Makes a lot of sense actually.
Klefbom makes some sense too but I don't think Chia has any interest in that sort of deal.

And Columbus.

Ryan Murray was the first player that came to mind after reading that tweet, but the Jets would have to add significantly and overpay to make that happen. It's possible, but I don't see it as a Chevy type of move.

That's probably a pretty short list.

And just like with the Islanders when they were looking for a d-man of equivalent ability for Travis Hamonic, there was a pretty short list of teams willing to make such a deal (see: no one).

It worked out okay for the Islanders because Hamonic eventually rescinded his trade request, will the Jets be as lucky?

This is correct, but I'd add that re-signing Lindholm fits a greater need. Anaheim has been looking for a number one defenseman since Niedermayer retired. Trouba doesn't address that, but Lindholm does, so it really doesn't matter what's added to Trouba. Till Anaheim is absolutely ruled out of re-signing Lindholm, he's not going anywhere.
