That's IF they have already negotiated it. From my understanding Peg is just selling his rights nothing more.

So, whick GM would make the trade not knowing what the contract for JT will cost? Make a list....

Do you honestly think ANY GM is going to trade assets for a guy without gauging Trouba's interest in signing there? No team is going to do that in this situation.

Key word being Jets fans, not Jets organization.

Fowler has been reported available for some time, we now know Trouba made his request reportedly in May......pretty sure Chevy was truely interested in two years of Fowler the deal would be done already. Why in the world we we ever trade Trouba for a guy two years away from UFA? Silly talk, especially when our window opens just when Fowler becomes UFA.

Left side d of similar age and calibre on teams lacking top 4 right hand d and able to trade the left D:

So Anaheim, Carolina, Philadelphia or Edmonton.

My bet is Philly...

At the NHL level, Canes have Faulk as their top pairing RHD; Brett Pesce, who played 2nd pairing RHD last year; Ryan Murphy, who will likely play 3rd pairing RHD this year, and Matt Tennyson, who will likely be the #7. On top of that, they have Roland McKeown, who has been developing nicely and will likely start in the AHL this year.

Sure, other than Faulk those guys aren't on Trouba's level, but there is not any rush to try to upgrade at the RHD spot either, especially at the expense of either Slavin or Hanifin.

No need to build 3 Cs deep or a young LHD? Nurse is NHL ready. RNH is a 1C.

RNH would play behind Mark, Little......we already have MP if we want as 3rd liner who doesn't make 6 million. Nurse sure isn't NHL ready based off last year....train wreck tbh.

I've seen crazier things in the NHL so yes it is plausible

Chiarelli might actually do that....

I doubt that. Both Chia and TMac are big fans of Nuge and have been praising him throughout the World Cup of Hockey.

Furthermore, this is the first time in a while that Edmonton has pretty good Centre depth so trading your best defensive Centre and a promising LHD is too much.

Honestly, I, along with many others, can see a three way trade go down with Anaheim shipping Fowler to Winnipeg, while Edmonton gets Trouba and Anaheim gets a mixture of draft picks and forwards.

Personally, I'd be ok with a few of the offers here,

RNH + Nurse for Trouba and Lowry/Burmi/Petan

Gardiner + Dermont + 2nd

Fowler + 1st from 3 way trade - Wouldn't be estatic with this, just ok.

Highly unlikely and very circumstantial - Rakell signs in the KHL and Lindholm asks for a trade.
Trouba + Burmistrov + 3rd
For
Lindholm

its fair because trouba wants 7 mill a year and isnt worth that. No contract drops the value to that of a nurse. if trouba had a contract he would be worth what crazy jets fans are asking but he also wouldnt be in this situation. I am a jets fan as well.

You're right, cause no player ever in the history of sports has ever signed an extension before their contract expires, right? For all you know Maybe Chevy has kicked tires about Fowler but the trade made less sense on Anaheim's end. I'm just saying that wouldn't be a bad return for the Jets in terms of what they're looking for in a trade for Trouba, contract term aside. It's not like Trouba is exactly working out for them with trade requests and negotiations going south and all so I don't know what you're on about over the 2 years of Fowler being that big of an issue.

Chia has shown that he'll give up a little more than he should to get what he wants. Even though he probably should, I'm not sure how much he wants Trouba.

Also, let's see if I can guess the proposal. Winnipeg gets Fowler who will leave in 2 years. Oilers get Trouba (who is arguably better then any of their current defensemen), and Anaheim gets the Oilers poop. Yah, that's how I thought it would go....

Ok get your lowball offers in now, let's hear them all.

Detroit Red Wings Jacob Trouba 7 years $42 million

Winnipeg Jets- Nyquist+Smith+Ouellet+Detroit's 2017 1st round pick

Might not be a great deal for the Jets, Pretty sure they can do better. But i could see Trouba wanting to come home more to Detroit then elsewhere. Considering that Trouba more then likely gets top pairing minutes with DDK.

I'm guessing he doesn't want to go to any teams that already have solid 1st and 2nd pairing RHD's, that could narrow down the list of teams to potentially make a deal with and the Jets would get the best return from teams looking to fill those spots.

I have a question for Jets fans, was this expected? Has he shown that he's a prima Donna in the past or is this warranted given that he could be behind Byfuglien and Myers on the depth chart/ Their unwillingness to play less mins., etc. Not entirely sure of where he was slotted to play.

Nurse's value is higher than normal because he does not need to be protected in next years expansion draft.
It's most likely the reason Edmonton is not going to trade him

We live in a cap era, contracts, specifically UFA contracts are a massive issue. Don't see Chevy gambling on signing Fowler.....performance aside. Many better options out there.

If it were Trouba for Werenski, who adds? How much do they add?

It won't be, because that won't be accepted no matter what Winnipeg adds. Werenski is why we feel like we can get through the expansion draft and still have a decent blueline corps afterwards. We're not giving that up for anything even approximating a sane offer.

The other real important thing to remember us that nurse is expansion draft exempt. A nurse for Trouba deal is actually one year of Trouba for 5 years of nurse.
