I sure hope the return for trouba isnt the same as turris... 0 current nhl players 3 years later, that was an atrocious decision by arizona

nobody can make any player sign longterm, rfa or not

you throw enough money and most sign long term...
doesnt really mean they stick out for the entirety but you just dont pass up on the $$$. See Subban.

Land of no calls..
To NYR: Trouba, Dano

To Jets: Lindholm, NYR 1st round pick (2017)

To Ana: McDonagh, Connor

Rangers get a young stud D to build around, along with a good, cheap young forward to strengthen their top-9.

Jets get a top-pairing LHD and a futures, while giving up two very good forward prospects, which is a position of strength.

Anaheim, in "win now" mode, gets a top-pairing LHD in his prime at a very reasonable cap hit to step into Lindholm's role along with a potential scoring star forward on his ELC. The cap space likely allows them to re-sign Rakell.

(Note: McDonagh has a M-NTC, so probably won't permit a direct trade to Winnipeg. But he would likely be happy with a trade to Anaheim, including willingness to sign long-term after current contract).

Ducks win this one by a mile. Not sure I see the point for either of the other teams.

Chicago Gets: Trouba and Connor
Winnipeg gets: Panarian and Forsling

This is a win/win in all ways. Panarian is aking for too much and Chicago cannot afford, but they do need established youth at defense. They also get connor which motte and him would gel instantly.

Winnipeg gets several things. Much needed offense, as well as a left handed defensive prospect. Plus Panarian will look very nice along side Laine.

Thoughts?

Sure an where is Chicago going to come up with the $5.5 million to $6 million per to sign Trouba considering that Panarin and Forsling make nothing right now. Chicago doesn't have the cap to do this it would've to be salary for salary.

Got to think dallas and Edmonton may be kicking the tires here on Trouba. Possibly Boston as well.

Trouba's cap hit is the main problem.

It's too premature of a trade for the Leafs. I know for a fact that there would have to be some +'s added to Gardiner to make the trade.

Yeah 7 million is a huge cap hit but what I hear is he only wants 7 million per year from Winnipeg. I think the Leafs could sign sign him for 5 or 5.5 million per year. If he wants to play in Toronto, the rumor is he wants to play in the states. But if I was Lou I would jump all over a Gardiner for Trouba trade.

What's Reilly's cap hit and contract overall?

Lots of people ignoring the Vegas expansion draft in these proposals. The quantity for quality deal means that some players are going to be left exposed, and it could cost the Jets other players they don't want to lose, either pieces picked up in this trade, or players who are off the list now that other players have replaced them. There's a reason Chevy is saying he wants a one for one type trade, makes the expansion draft much easier to navigate.

His own agent said yesterday on Winnipeg radio that they haven't accepted any contract offer from Winnipeg at all, so that 7 million is total speculation.

true very good point

but subban wanted to play in montreal, never asked for a trade and never limited his desired place to play to a small geographical area

of course things could change but they could not as well

Toronto radio is hilarious. Pitching Nylander + Gardiner for Trouba and stating that Winnipeg wouldn't even consider it.

Am I wrong, or does Toronto not even begin to consider that trade, and Winnipeg would take that and run?

Not a Gardiner believer, but Yes, the Jets would do that in a flash.

I feel like he's going East unless it's a big overpayment coming from a Western team, especially a team in the division. I feel like Detroit and Pittsburgh would both be great fits for him, if they can work something out. Seems to be a good relationship with Buffalo, too.
