No one will want Coyle at his cap hit with the way he is currently playing and with one more year on his contract. He could maybe be moved in the off-season.
That’s right. To move Coyle, they’d probably have to retain about $2M of his cap hit (or offer sweetener of equivalent value / take back bad contract of equivalent negative value etc). At that point, they are just better off keeping him.

Could include Lysell before he is completely worthless

They are a bit different in style, but Jimmy Hayes had a couple of seasons like Frederic recently had and then went over the cliff. Maybe Freddie is Jimmy 2.0- this season it's looking like it so far. Still, 15 games is not enough to declare him as crap. At least give him till the mid-way point. That said, if they traded him tomorrow for some offensive help, I wouldn't cry.

Bruins have $22m in cap space next year with 9 free agents to sign.

If they re-sign all but Frederic, they should have around $7m in cap space left.

Would you rather spend $7m on a top6 forward or $5m on Frederic?
How this season plays out will tell us a lot about whom they resign, trade, or let walk; and then we will see what they might have for cap space.
They still have about 90 - 100 days to figure out what they want to do with Frederic.
When free agency actually gets here a lot will also depend upon who is actually available.

Depends on how Frederic finishes the year. If he ends up as a 40+ pt guy (or is on pace for that minus the poor start) and has his engaged, physical game back, he might be worth bringing back at 5. Less than that, and no, I let him walk and look for a more offensive-oriented guy.

DK I never saw anything special with Fred. I Keep big so so skater Brazeau over Fred. Attempt landing another former first round pick who is struggling that comes with speed and ability to score.
He’s a bottom 6 as of today. I’d offer 3/10 M that’s about where I’m with him

Let’s go !!!!!

It is but never pass up an opportunity to bash Coyle.
They belong together

Analytics been good to strong for them

Well didnt you say Coyle is not a probelm? If three fing points on the season and dreadfull play at 5m dosent seem like a problem to you? WOW,

He is indeed a MAJOR problem and should be shown the door. Just be ready with the tissues for the NESN crew if he is.

Freddy is a third line player and getting paid like one. My guess is he will be traded because he has great value around the league and the Bruins would rather keep over paying for players like Coyle.

You sending Poitras to Providence? He’s not a top6 player right now. It’s 3rd line or bust for Poitras.

I’m at ZACHA should play center with Pastrnak like he did in games 3&4 in round 1 2023 v Panthers that they won by 10-4. They have chemistry and as a center he’s pretty much a short pass away

LINDHOLM with Marchand looks like a heck of a match. Lindholm is as advertised even if points aren’t there .

COYLE has still got it. He’s a mismatch and a beast as a 3C

Zacha
Lindholm
Coyle

Is better then the center trio then what they tuned up Florida with

As for POITRAS I sat last night in my buddies dead center ice row 2 seats in balcony and was Uber impressed with Poitras

He made several nice decisions, showed better speed then last year, avoided big hits

He’s to good for AHL and belongs in NHL

You can play him 4th line and move around for an odd shift, play him on RW, play him in top 3 C if injuries/sickness

I’d also hsve him on PP2

Good problem to have but Zacha abd Coyle should be playing center

I would prefer to trade Carlo and Coyle, you should get an ok return and cap space, then sign Frederic

I feel like Dakota Joshua’s 3.25 x 4 is a pretty fair comp for Freddy but you never know on the open market

I feel like anywhere between 3-3.5 is fair and then it just comes down to the term, which could easily be longer

Might be a good time to see if you could buy low on a nice deal

I agree. I've argued for Zacha at center several times this year, but that line is going to need more than Tyler Johnson to beat other team's first lines.

Pair 'em up...

Zacha-Pasta
Marchand-Lindholm
Coyle-Poitras

I had Frederic on the third pair at the start of the season but after doing the cap math for next year I think they should move him.

Interesting combo.

The two worst +/- players on the team (by far) with the best (by far).

Can Koepke bring those guys up?

I looked into this the other day. Dakota Joshua is the favorable comp but Mason Marchment is probably what Frederic's agent is going to be pushing.

Marchment signed a 4 year deal at $4.5 per season and that was in 2022.

How does trading Carlo help? We don't have any other D capable of playing in the top4. I think that's just robbing Peter to pay Paul. Plus, signing a top4 RHD next summer is going to cost considerably more than Carlo makes, so you're left with no money to upgrade the forwards.
