I like Freddy but I feel like you can get someone to overpay for him since he has that size and skill combo that is coveted everywhere. Similar to Jeannot except he has less skill and more nasty than Freddy.

Only thing is we too need guys who have that combo and they are never easy to find

If the opponent refuses, should he do something else?

Yes, if the reason for the fight is to stick up for a teammate, or to right a previous wrong ala Bennet or Tkachuk, he should do exactly what he did the other night, and take the extra 2 minutes. You'd be surprised how someone out there who doesn't ask politely and instead just grabs and throws can help calm down a situation.

Neither Bennett nor Tkachuk do what you're proposing he do.

I don't give a fiddler's f*** if they do or not*. Sometimes you need to be a hammer, not a nail.

*Though Bennett most certainly drove his fist into our unsuspecting captain's face, knocking him out on his feet in one of the greasiest cheap shots I've ever seen. Doesn't that count?

That’s being a rat. You said “a la Tkachuk and Bennett” - so do it like them. They don’t fight unless it’s a mismatch.

Do you want Freddy to turn into a cheap rat instead of a fighter?

No, that's not being a rat if the guy deserves it. Bennett took out our captain in the playoffs, and Tkachuck runs around trying to injure. Taking care of them isn't being a rat, it's policing the game.

PS - And I'm pretty sure you misunderstood. I didn't mean "ala Bennet and Tkachuck - so do it like them", I meant "do what he (Frederic) did the other night", ala protecting Poitras by jumping Larsson

When it comes to a guy who suckers your captain and runs your goalie every night, yes return the favor without consent.

It's easier to do in the moment when something happens like Frederic did against Seatlle. But next time Bennet or Tkachuk come close to doing anythnig you jump them, pummel them, take your misconduct and suspension.

It's not about being within the rules. its about them knowing its not okay to do that. because clearly the rules are sheltering them. Bully's only think twice after they are bleeding.

Since when are we above rats? your name is literally a "reformed" rat.

Bennett more than Tkachuk ( at least for the Bruins ) is long overdue for comeuppance. Zadarov tried to fight him but Bennett declined ( " dude, you're like 8 feet tall " was Bennett's excuse ). They just need to have someone grab him, pound him, and get it over with already.

I would have liked for him to start feeding Tkachuk or Bennett. I don't really think that's "rat" behavior, I think it was something that should have been established game 1 of the season. Rat behavior is clocking our captain and knocking him senseless with a cheap shot. Holding that person accountable isn't being a "rat"

It doesn't have to be one extreme of him suddenly being a "rat" because he fed one of them their lunch.

Wait it’s being a “cheap rat” if Bennett takes out Marchand and we respond without Bennetts consent to fighting?

Can't fathom how anyone, especially a Bruins fan, can't get behind this. Sucker and knock out your captain should equal bring jumped everytime he is on the ice. All for one and one for all should be the mentality. What Freddy did for Poitras is what ANY Bruin should do for each other. Take no shit regardless of an instigator penalty even in the playoffs. Even if it causes a suspension for a few games. Next man up. Not sure why I even bother state my point. Some agree and some don't. The ones that feel opposite would rather turning a cheek and hopefully get a PP. That'll show em, maybe a goal but you've lost integrity in the team mentality and show that your weak and they can take liberties.

Freddy isn't a rat and not even the greatest fighter but is capable. Sticking up for a teammate at all costs should never be even discussed. What's the worse thing that could happen? Honestly, a penalty, couple games off? Would take that over being a punching bag for other teams dirtiness.
And by the way, Bennet is a cowardly rat.

I totally understand not doing it in a playoff game. I get that, it could be costly. However game 1 of 82 in a game you're down 5-1, something should have happened and I'll argue that until I'm blue in the face. You don't give the player the choice in the matter either. You grab that guy in a scrum and you start feeding him, either you do that or you take a healthy run and knock them senseless.

It grinds my gears when players don't stick up for each other, especially when the guy who was knocked out with a cheap shot is the first in there to defend his team.

But like you said. Some people don't like that part of the game. I don't get why, but some people don't.

This isn't rocket surgery. Someone takes out your goalie, best player, etc... you give it back.

That's not being a 'rat', that's hockey. it's been like that forever and it should never change.

It was confusion because he said “a la Tkachuk and Bennett” - which would normally mean be like Tkachuk or Bennett. And this was in the context of recent things where Freddy tries to get a fight and no one obliges, not the Bennett play in the playoffs.

Read it again. I stated "or to right a previous wrong ala Bennet or Tkachuk". "ala Bennet or Tkachuk" was referring to the "previous wrong", as in "guys who previously wronged the Bruins".

I know. But “a la” means “in the style of” so I misinterpreted your post.

100% and although I do agree about playoffs I still think that you can make a statement and have a penalty or even a one game suspension to set the tone... Meaning after Marchy was suckered. All for one
