Dubas would be saving up to overpay his core. I love the message that Tre is sending already. F U guys.

This makes approximately 0 sense.

Treliving has sent them a message of "we won't pay you cause we signed all these players" by having them all expire when the core needs to be paid.

Mind explaining the logic to me?

That's a good point. They do expire. Am I giving him too much credit? I'm tired of the pandering to these brats.

Two terrible signings: Klingberg, Reaves

Klingberg is a power play specialist who plays on the right side. At $4.15M for only ONE (1) year, where is the risk?

The Dubas Fan Boi Club wants to point out his defensive liability - - let me remind them that Justin Holl was on the ice for 72% of opponent goals in the playoffs. And that Holl provides ZERO offence. Holl at $3.4M x3 is a God-awful contract. The Klingberg deal is infinitely better.

Reaves is still the most intimidating fighter in the league, which the Leafs have been desperately lacking for the past half decade. Giving him $1.35M is peanuts. And it’s only for three years. Again, little to no risk at all.

Ok but need someone to log key defensive minutes

I like day 2 a lot more than day 1 but let’s pump the brakes on “tremendous”…

Bertuzzi is a good add, not much to complain about. I like Domi, he’s got a lot of heart which this team can use and IMO the name factor is not nothing. He’ll be playing to live up to his dad. But I’m not sure where people are getting the impression he’s tough? He’s a rat, which has its own benefits, he’ll sucker punch you after the play but between the whistles he’s a more offensively inclined Kerfoot. Domi will be fun but a physical bottom middle six winger would have been a wiser target.

A “terrible” day would have been something stupid like badly overpaying a mediocre back up goalie for extended term.

Like that laughable deal giving Tristan Jarry a massive raise to $5.375 x5. What a brutal deal that is.

Oh, wait….

Minus the hitting. They are closer to Bunting, except Domi can fight if he needs to.
They both bring a different element to matthews, nylander and marner so between them, knies, and Reaves, I think it is a good start. We just need to add a defenseman like Muzzin but who isnt broken.

We had all that last playoffs, and we had different elements.

If the core doesn't show up, we don't win, it is simple.

Dirty, nasty, cheap shot artists who are at their best in the playoffs.

THAT’S what wind in the playoffs - - not figure skaters like Pete Engvall and Al Kerfoot.

Domi is average in the playoffs...

I think i like bertuzzi and domi better than ror and acciari.

The core is obviously important but it doesnt mean the rest of the team is absolved from getting it done either.

Leafs have never had a legit fighter like Reaves for the past half decade.

Nor have they had a dirty agitator like Domi and Bertuzzi since Kadri was given away for nothing.

Bunting was NOT comparable to Domi or Bert. He was more about complaining to the refs and diving than he was about getting under opponent’s skin.

Domi is average in the playoffs...

You didn’t watch any of the Dallas games this post season, did you?

Who knows how it will turn out, just look at what happened with Calgary last year.

But today was definitely a huge PR win for Leafs management because it gives the media and fanbase something positive to focus on.
Treliving can't help it if stars don't want to play in his city. He built a pretty good team in Calgary but unfortunately for him Tkachuk and Gaudreau left. GMs in Edmonton, Ottawa, Calgary, Winnipeg have challenges that other Gms don't. Especially Winnipeg, that is a tough sell.

When did cheap shot artists become a positive? Will we be celebrating Domi's 5 min major , game misconduct and 3 game suspension in the playoffs?
