I'm sorta baffled about this because it would really be great for Winnipeg on several levels. Trouba COULD be as good as Hamonic, but Hammer is an immediate upgrade. They sell a million jerseys and he's almost guaranteed to finish his career there.
Unless I'm misreading things? How good is Trouba right now? I assume his upside is better than Hamonic if they'd be hesitant about that.
Winnipeg fan checking the discussion here - Trouba hasn't started out the year that well but many feel that it's the pairing with Mark Stuart that's making him look bad (I don't really buy that). I think his decision making is a bit off but he's pretty young and defensemen tend to take a bit longer to develop.
Trouba for Hamonic would come down to how Jets mgmt feels about his upside going forward, but also how they feel the team is set up to compete over the next few seasons. If Buff goes, the right side has Myers and Hamonic for the next 3 or 4 years.
