Hey guys, fantasy question here...

What would you guess is the split between Petersen/Quick this season?

So basically I'm stuck deciding between Petersen and the stars goalie tandem

Tough call. The Stars are healthier this year and have the better D-core, but they’re also older too. The Central is the tougher division for sure too. Long term I take Petersen, but this year both teams are total question marks.

The time is now, to inject youth. Need Turcotte's (and Jad's) style of play on this team now. Where is Kempe? Sitting out or traded. Fagemo should be in the place of Brown, but
Brown gets a chance. Unfortunately, Kopi has not been playing that well, nor is Iafallo producing anything, so put them back together.

Iafallo-Kopitar-Arvidsson
*Turcotte-Danault-Kaliyev*
Tkachev-Vilardi-Moore
Lemieux-JAD-Brown

Later in the year:

Iafallo-Kopitar-Arvidsson
Turcotte-Danault-Kaliyev
Tkachev-Vilardi-Andersson
Lemieux-Byfield-Fagemo
JAD

*Turcotte and Kaliyev already have chemistry and Danault needs wingers not named Iafallo and Kempe. That line has been not so good...not 'Dustin Brown bad', but needs a change.

Kings are just too deep, c'mon how can Turcotte and Kaliyev replace the likes of Lizotte, Wagner, Grundstrom and company. :sarcasm:

I’d give the guys 10-12 games max to see where things stand, if the vets continue sucking then they need to just play the kids. Not only for development but for the fans. I think many of you like myself just enjoy watching the youth of the young guys. They’re fast, they are determined to develop, and they haven’t gotten the bag yet. At some point you gotta give the fans something to want to watch. When fans would rather watch your AHL team over the NHL squad then you got a problem.

It's interesting seeing the gap between the top and bottom players lessening, but I think it's a combination of our top guys getting worse and our bottom guys getting better.

Well they just put Wagner on waiver, something I think no one expected Blake to have the balls for

Pretty excited to see Kaliyev stay up. Not sure how many games he will get but an exciting time nonetheless.

In case anyone didn't see, they put Strand and Wagner on waivers and Maatta and Athanasiou will start the year on IR.

That means Kaliyev, Lizotte, Grundstrom, and Wolanin made the team.

That's great for Arthur. Just don't bury him on line 4. I hope Wagner is claimed. I hope Lias' injury is not bad and he be in the opener.
He was not put on IR ? Good sign.

It's just not going to happen. When AA gets back, the first guy gone is probably Kaliyev. Unless he puts up 10g in the first 7GP. The only reason Kaliyev is getting this chance is probably because Byfield went down. And Byfield probably wasn't going to get a ton of minutes when healthy. Vilardi can't even get any, and he's been in the league full time for a year now.

If that means you don't watch, then don't watch. But there's not going to be some mass exodus of vets in-season. Not in Nov anyway. That's just not how the league works. If the Kings suck, then that's how it's going to be probably until the deadline. Then you can get rid of some guys.

little disappointed to see strand waived but it is what it is, he didn't look as strong as he did in his previous callup. that's one of the guys i want to see put it together, guess the minutes in ontario should be good for him

Not sure if your are joking or serious. I don't recall anyone here liking McLellan -- certainly not a fan club for the guy. Maybe except for Brown, Drew and Kopi's agent. Besides that, it seems everyone is against McLellan (maybe from Day 1) and is looking forward to the day of his replacement.

What changes has McLellan instilled on the team?

My point is there's always this group of certain people on this board keep giving rope to vets and a coach who have done nothing to deserve it. It's mind numbing. These guys are well paid athletes and professionals who don't even seem remotely interested in performing. Why are we giving them such a long leash at their age specifically? What makes any logical person think that athletes in the twilight of their careers suddenly will have an interest in turning it "on" when the regular season starts

I have never had a fantasy team, but I would think to get any players you can that are 'unknown's that have real possible upside'
I would think Vladimir Tkachev is certainly one. He's for real and I think something like 20 goals, 45 assists is possible.
Seriously. He's going to play PP 1 and his skills and ability are legit.

Until last night, was thinking more like 12-15 goals...and then he skated towards the goal and stick handled 3 times and Gibson was ready and Tkachev still shot it past him in the corner. Was awesome. That proved to me he can score goals. They will just have to have him shoot more. But I'm not worried.

More worried that Brown is looking like a 5 goal, 12 assist year...so do not choose him for your team.

Upon further reflection because I was flat out PISSED at the vets...Kopitar was good. Could be better, probably warming up. Arvidsson was a mixed bag but the guy is a few inches away from a lot more production. I'ts the corpse of Brown that was dropping that line to the bottom of the ocean. If they're going ot use him on that line a lot, it better be a 'third' line instead of a first.

Kind of same with Danault and Kempe. Kempe just looked like utter trash and there's only so much heavy lifting PD can do for him.

If you're not going to supplement the vets with the youth, it's gonna be ugly. Like I said, give them 15 games...but after that, it might be time to sit Brown and play Kaliyev/Turcotte/etc on veteran wings no matter what their minutes are because the vets can't handle them either.

As far as Drew...don't know what else you can do there. Anderson was awesome last night, a total force all over the ice. If he can't get up with a good enthusiastic partner, a growing team, and Team Canada on the horizon...

Why does it matter what these guys look like in pre-season?

Maybe they'll be trash in the regular season, maybe they won't, but the pre-season isn't an indication one way or another.

Yes it is an indiction. Id agree with you normally but weve seen this play out before in real time. Theyve had poor preseasons that carried right into the regular season.
I hope your right and they were just getting their legs going. But I am preparing to waste a bunch of time and money watching these guys not give a damn for another season.

I don't know if it's just a matter of them getting their legs going or not.

I thought Kopitar really declined last year, so I won't be surprised at all if he's bad this year.

I'm just saying that pre-season isn't an indicator one way or the other.

Don't be surprised if Tkachyov (sp) is completely ineffective in the regular season.

Right now Carolina is in last place while while CBJ and NJ are leading the division.
