Was at the game tonight. Zegras is worth the price of admission but my god does that kid suck off screen lol, there were more than a few occasions he was just doing whatever the f*** he wanted like 100 ft away from the play. LOTS to learn that will get excused for flash and points. It's like if he's involved and CAN get the puck it's 100% effort and heart--if he's just support, he'll float away and pray for a turnover/breakaway. Shades of Pavel Bure. Maybe it's smart, I dunno, but it's a completely different story than the 200 ft go all times narrative. But he's an awesome talent, zero doubt, and so so fun to watch especially with the attitude.

100% worried about the vets. I've stuck up for them a lot but Brown, Kopitar, Doughty appear to have lost a step entirely. Brain/IQ or not, it's a night and day difference when the kids are out there. Zero passion, chase, drive. Skill is great, experience is great, but no heart = no results. I give them 15 games...and if they aren't 'warmed up' and this is the new normal, I'd frankly rather have Lemieux-Lizotte-Kupari out there than Brown-Kopitar-X. Completely soulless, disgusting play tonight.

Kempe looked like an Alpha male for one game in the preaseason, looked prepared..then disappeared. Where'd that guy go?

Watching Danault get punked by Zegras....great for Zegras, but seriously, PD, what did you get paid for? It wasn't offense. Losing a faceoff and a check in 2.5 seconds...f***ing christ. Embarassing.

Vilardi is the man and will get 60 pts this season.

Tkachev is the most talented player on the team and is almost as transformative as KK was for the Wild. Unfortunately he's two years two late for the rest of the vets and a year too early for the youth.

Mikey Anderson gets better every night. He's basically baby Slavin right now.

Lias Andersson getting hurt hurt my heart. Somehow twisting that to be useful? f*** that. Guy created the turnover that led to the goal out of thin air. He's a completely unique player and this team NEEDS him.

Roy solid as always, and Roy-Bjornfot on paper is a great pairing...they just need to find an extra 50 inches, 50 lbs. Get to work!

Edler looked f***ing huge tonight and made a lot of good, underrated plays.

Kaliyev missing that Vilardi one timer to win the game hurt a lot more live than it did on screen. That was a moment where AK made the entire rink go bullet time...only to whiff. So close!

Honestly I've stuck up for Drew a lot but he looks done. He can kiss his Canada dreams goodbye, guy looks like he hasn't skated all summer. That contract and Anze's are gonna hurt by the end of this year. Not in any actual roster implications way, but they'll be indefensible unless those guys are holding back for the preseason--otherwise it's just bubble hockey going thru the motions. Ditto for Brownie. Bless them all for what they did for this franchise, but each one of them looks to be reading old scripts and hoping they'll hold true.

Of course, suck it Todd and open your eyes Blake, the team needs to be turned over to the kids.

In short: yep.

People so heated over a preseason game lol

It's the last one, though. This is basically the team walking into the regular season.

At least the youth is getting better and the 26 and under part of the team, is now emerging to be better than the 27 and older part of the team.
This is a good sign for the future, but will be a long season, if the vets cannot step up.

Tkachev 26
Moore 26
Kempe 25
Andersson 23 (next week)
Vilardi 22
JAD 22
Fagemo 21

Madden 21
Turcotte 20
Kaliyev 20
Byfield 19

Bjornfot 20
Spence 20
Faber 19
Grans 19

____________________________________

Brown 37 (November 4) trending out of the league before season end
Kopitar 34 and trending down
Danault 28 okay
Arvidsson 28 trending down from 2+ years ago, but okay
Iafallo 28 (December 21) holding

Edler 35 and not horrible, but just a placeholder
Doughty 32 (December 8) trending down from where he was last yr
Walker 27 (November 13) he's okay but Clarke will replace him in 2 years. (or next?)

Quick 35 looks a little better than last yr, but he's no longer key
Petersen 27 looks okay.

Observations: Petersen is already 27? You can finally see the future IS EMERGING NOW.
Best deals Blake made were trading up for Faber and dealing late 2nd rounder for Andersson, getting Moore and 2, 3rd rounders from Leafs for Campbell and Clifford
Best signings: Tkachev. This kid alone is Panarin-light. He's not a poor man's Panarin. He's only a cut below him. He's not even getting started, either.
Best draft steal: Chromiak

By next year, this is Quinton Byfield's team. If not injured, it could have been his team by March.
Gabe Vilardi establishes himself as 20 goal, 50 pt center and commands league wide notice.
Turcotte will make his mark and that will begin sometime during THIS season.
Mikey Anderson will take the leadership of the defense...with Matt Roy co-leading.

Whoever IS MOST RESPONSIBLE for signing Tkachev: I love you. Go find another one of him. Can he be a #1 LHD? All the better.

Todd McMoron’s in mid season form carrying the water for management.

https://lakingsinsider.com/2021/10/09/preseason-final-kings-3-ducks-4-so-walker-tkachev-mclellan/

Weren’t good early - Check
Hasn’t been an easy camp for veterans - LoL, so much for the most competitive camp ever
He says that Lias getting hurt HELPED THE TEAM??? Shit, hopefully Kaliyev gets a concussion and we win the cup
They’ve got one week of practice get the vets ready, what the hell was the point of camp?

This team is run by idiots.

I thought you were just misquoting him... That can't be the right quote. How did Lias getting hurt help the team? What the f***? Lol. Todd McLellan kissing the vets ass it seems for some mind numbing reason.

Expect a really rough season. I can tell you guys by the looks of it that Kopitar and Doughty aren't willing to try in preseason, then they will barely try in the regular season.

I wish we could either demote these dudes or get rid of them completely. It's come to the point that I think they do more harm to the youth than anything. This constant lackadaisical demeanor is a cancer.

McLellan is f***ing ass by the way. Just letting the McLellan fan club know. Ironically the McLellan fan club has the same members as the Vets do no wrong fan club. Funny how that happens.

Reactions: kinghock
Observations:

1. Vilardi is quickly emerging as the team’s #1 impact Center. Amazing goal that was similar to Carter in the Jersey series, but an even better shot.

2. As much as it pains me to say..Zegras is a stud and will end up being better than Turcotte.

3. It’s too early to say that Kopitar, Brown and Doughty are washed. Those guys are accomplished vets and it’s still preseason. I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. If they don’t start playing better after the season starts, I would definitely start cutting minutes, though.

4. Hope Andersson is okay. We need him.

5. Mikey looks great. Drew is the weak link so far.

6. Tkachev is exactly the player we needed. It’s so nice seeing that skill element on the PP.

7. Arvidsson is going to heat up once the season gets going.

What side is that?

I'd say attitude problems. His game depends on his mood, and his mood depends on nobody knows what.

He was a fan favorite when he just started to play for both Ufa and SKA, but in the end both fan bases were happy, when he left their teams.

How many of us would give our left nut to have Nick Nickson replace Faust on TV?
I’m almost upset they let him do the game last night. It was such a superior broadcast. It was so great to listen to a game focused commentary by a guy who really knows the sport and the team.

it’s going to suck to go back to Faust. It will be even harder to delude myself that he is “ok”.

bonus that Jim doesn’t feel like the “alpha” in a booth with Nick. Made him better too.

Not sure if your are joking or serious. I don't recall anyone here liking McLellan -- certainly not a fan club for the guy. Maybe except for Brown, Drew and Kopi's agent. Besides that, it seems everyone is against McLellan (maybe from Day 1) and is looking forward to the day of his replacement.

I don't like him on hair cut alone. No one should have a bowl cut past age 8

Must Kopitar play 25min in a pre-season game? I get the reps thing, and 7 of those min were PP/PK, and Andersson went out, and whenever you're in a position to win, you want to coach and play to win the game regardless of what game it is, but why does Vilardi have the fewest ES min other than an injured Andersson last night?

I like McLellen better than Sutter or any of the two Murray's

I will stop watching games after about 10 minutes because of StupidBoy Faust he makes me want to throw up

The time is now, to inject youth. Need Turcotte's (and Jad's) style of play on this team now. Where is Kempe? Sitting out or traded. Fagemo should be in the place of Brown, but
Brown gets a chance. Unfortunately, Kopi has not been playing that well, nor is Iafallo producing anything, so put them back together.

Iafallo-Kopitar-Arvidsson
*Turcotte-Danault-Kaliyev*
Tkachev-Vilardi-Moore
Lemieux-JAD-Brown

Later in the year:

Iafallo-Kopitar-Arvidsson
Turcotte-Danault-Kaliyev
Tkachev-Vilardi-Andersson
Lemieux-Byfield-Fagemo
JAD

*Turcotte and Kaliyev already have chemistry and Danault needs wingers not named Iafallo and Kempe. That line has been not so good...not 'Dustin Brown bad', but needs a change.
