I have this crazy thought, why not put Kaliyev on the top line alongside Arvidsson and Kopitar?

It bears repeating: any team icing Dustin Brown on its top line is not a playoff team.
some where some place coach todd just shed a single tear

I'll say it again: Kaliyev is my favorite prospect and has been since drafted.

Watched the YT video of all his goals from his draft year after the Kings drafted him and the tape didn't lie: special goal scoring ability.

Never should have fallen out of the first round.

As someone who watches the Bulldogs a ton, I could see why he did. There were times where he didn't look committed on the ice. When you have that much skill, the game can become easier especially at the junior level and you tend to drift.

Sure you see the highlight reel goals he scored that season but it's the play away from the puck that likely had clubs wondering if it was worth them using a 1st to draft him.

If he's committed and working hard, it's going to pay off big time for LA and they will be more than happy he fell into their laps early in the 2nd. His shot was NHL level when he played here in the Hammer.

Remember his rookie year when the Dog's won the OHL championship, and just to see his progression from mid September to mid May was something to see. Really fun to see kids progress as they play out their careers in the junior ranks.

The better roster doesn't have Lizotte or Strand on it. Both are extras on every other non-playoff team in the league. Hopefully both will get claimed.

Expecting a much improved season from Lemieux. Young guy (25 yr), I think there's still more to his game. Loving the effort.

Anderson will be wearing a letter sooner rather than later.

I love having him paired with Doughty. That pairing is only going to get stronger. Our defense should definitely be ahead of what it was last year. Wolanin seems like a better 7th guy than Strand or if there's a fill-in need for injury.

He's unique, but closest I can think of is Vanek.

Love to hear it but will also believe it when I f***ing see it.

Sure, but his size and elite scoring ability should outweigh those concerns.

I still believe that, ultimately, he fell out of the 1st round due to a combo of what you said and his seeming awkwardness as a person with the latter being a big deal.

Tonight they were definitely not 'on'...

Same goes for...
Moore
Grundstrom
Kupari

Not sure when Kupari is going to take the next step as well as Grundy. Really rooting for both of those players but at some point they will be passed up.

Hard to complain about an Ontario Reign win over the Sucks regular season team with Zegras pulling passes out of his ass all game.

I actually thought Kupari looked good. He has a lot of hustle, good pay driving, and cycle.

I remember, but they should have planned ahead for the draft. I knew exactly how good he will be back then. They had years to watch him.

So did every other team and he fell to 33rd. Even we passed him over twice. Most scouting publications had him as a late 1st to mid-2nd. What exactly do you expect a team to do?

Frankly as much as I like our lineup we definitely need some more toughness somewhere. The freebies in front of the net are getting to be too much (well, HAVE been too much, but it's even more apparent now), never mind the usual stuff--team toughness looked a little better with Mikey Anderson beginning to earn a letter.

If Byfield was set to make the team that would have made a 4th line of….

Moore-Byfield-Wagner

Eventually AA is coming back so what would have happened to Wagner, Lemeiux, Lizotte and Grundstrom?

Something has to give here.

The Byfield injury opens up a spot and likely a 4th line now of Moore-Lizotte-Wagner. Where does that leave Lemieux? Grundstrom? AA?

I have a feeling Tkachev still stands a chance to get moved to Ontario or scratched so they can AA and Lemieux in.

He's been the biggest flop this pre-season. He should be the stand out in all the games he's played, but instead damn near invisible.

He's a third line energy guy with unfulfilled potential. This is going to be his sixth season. He just turned 25, and he plays a complementary role just fine, but expecting him to be more than he is is a fool's errand.

Well, the silver lining is my boy BYFIELD is gonna be on the roster this year when he's back so that takes the uncertainty. He's young too. He's gonna heal quicker. LET'S GO.

Byfield was the best player on the team before he went down. So I'm willing to wait until December or whatever to see him come reassurect the lifeless corpse of the LA kings back up the standings. As Kopitar continues to be a big soft little bitch, our savior will come. Let's go.

(this isn't a joke) byfield really impressed me.

If we want the Kings to win this year, the pacific is so garbage that we won't really need Byfield so it's okay. I think the boys can hold the fort down and make a push for a spot once he arrives.

Waivers. It leaves at least some if not all hitting the waiver wire.

I hear the insiders talk about asset protection but I’m not sure where the risk is with waiving Lizotte, Wagner and Grundström. No one is likely to trade for them and at most they are worth a late round draft pick. If anything losing a couple of contracts would be helpful. They have all been passed in the depth chart several times and the only one that may have some untapped upside is Grundström, which is why he’s the last of the three I’d waive. Given their low value I don’t see why we’d protect them to keep an NHL ready JAD in Ontario. Development of him in that 4C is worth far more than any late pick we may get for Wagner. Lemieux will be on the roster as he is pretty much the only gritty player. I’d waive AA as well if it comes to it, if it’s the best thing for the development of a player who will be here more long term.

Strand had his worst game as a king yesterday. If he played well again he may have made it but now hes gonna get clagued
And honestly Wolanin just brings quickness and zip from the backend we’ve lacked for a long time. Is he a top4? Absolutely not but he’s a change of pace from Roy, Anderson and Bjornfot.
