Mikey Anderson not putting up with McTavish's shit is exactly the kind of team toughness we need. We don't need Kurtis MacDermid ripping people's heads off, we just need guys who aren't afraid of sticking up for themselves and their teammates, like Anderson and Quick have shown the past couple days. That's all I really want to see.

Part of me thinks Blake made a mistake signing Danault, Edler and trading for Arvidsson - he did that to appease Doughty and Kopitar, AEG, and part of the fan base.

Tonight's roster was WAY more exciting than Brown, Kopitar, etc. The same old stale.

Maybe it's time they really move on from the older core guys and just go full Ottawa rebuild.

The pre-season games with the vet's have been boring. The pre-season games with the kids have been fun.

Absolutely ecstatic for Turcotte. This game really showed everyone what this kid can be and what he can do. Showed glimpses of his hustle and skill in Ontario last year and today is just a peak at what the future holds for this kid. Strength and experience is all he needs. I don't mind at all if he starts in Ontario again because he won't be there long. As for Kaliyev enough said. kid just scores. Refreshing to see these young kids ball out and show heart and not quit. Funniest thing is our best young player ain't even in this game. F******k!!!!

danault and arvidsson are great, maybe there's a conversation about edler but i don't know much about the current state of his game

there's no dancing around this being an AHL squad and while they might be more fun to watch, they would 100% lose more games and there's something to be said about those losses effect on development

Kaliyev is such an odd unit.

I have never seen such an awkward player lumber along like he does, straight into the exact spot he needs to be to bury the puck.

I do f***ing love it.

Luc kind of looked like that early in his career. Maybe not quite as awkward but crappy footwork, almost falls down, then BOOM.

One small thing that really stood out to me was that he hustled his ass off on the penalty kill to get a change too, even though the puck was down the ice. That extra effort, that extra second for our guy to jump over the boards and forecheck, those things really matter

I will say, for as good as the Vilardi line was last game. They were invisible this game.

Not sure why New Jersey Devils did not draft Kaliyev. I was on the ice with the kid when he was 12 years old here in New Jersey, and I knew where he was going to end up. You guys have a great player. It will be Joe Pavelski #2. Underrated, slow skater, but somehow gets it done.

Exactly. And just a side note he was the one in front of the net when Kaliyev scored his second. Byfield and Turcotte down the middle and if Vilardi can figure things out which I think he will, goodness sake. Just hope they can all stay healthy cuz all three has had some significant injury already in their young career.

They picked 1st overall and then not again until 61st. That likely played into it.

I remember, but they should have planned ahead for the draft. I knew exactly how good he will be back then. They had years to watch him.
