Training Camp/Preseason games Thread 2021

I almost pulled the trigger on some cheap seats for this to take my 8-yr old....then I realized the Covid protocols and can't figure out how to get him a test in such a short amount of time. Even if I did, do I have to show some type of ID for him to go along with the negative test? I don't get it...

It’s a shame that’s for sure. Almost borderline criminal what they’re doing to children.

Lets keep this thread on topic, if we can please.

Spence & Chromiak were my fav picks over the last few years. I'm not surprised they are doing so well. Both players underlying metrics were through the roof. Now we are seeing the fruition's come to the surface. Tip of the ice berg my fellow Kings fans.

Also not a great time to make a trade. Depending on the kind of trade you're looking to make I guess. The Blues had to take back a player in their deal yesterday. Going into a season, most teams are healthy. Any that aren't, likely have to, or already have, taken the eventual return of the injured player into account. Which is a must with the cap. That's the main reason trades aren't nearly as fun or as plentiful as they used to be.

If there was a trade to make, it would've already been done. Adding Arvidsson, Danault, and re-signing AA and Lizotte, none or any single one of those things needed to happen if all these young guys are actually going to make the team. All you likely did, is put yourself in a bad position for a deal. You're the one up against the deadline of the end of camp, and having to get under the roster limit, without potentially losing someone for nothing. Can't just "hope" injuries create enough holes on other teams to make them desperate.
Cannot argue with any of that. I think Blake has had a great offseason but signing AA was baffling because it only seems to have created a problem and answered a question that didn’t need asking. I agree on difficulty with making a trade which is why I half expect a shock waiver move.

I think AA is a combination of things:
  • Insurance in case none of the kids stick (worst-case scenario)
  • A lottery ticket in case he finally puts it all together
  • Trade bait for a deadline deal

Baffling is too strong a word. Nor would I say he's simply insurance. You don't spend $2.7m on insurance. Want to say they re-signed Lizotte for insurance at $800k, ok, but $2.7m? You're expecting that guy to regularly play.

AA was RFA so there was a limit to what he could be offered, but I was also surprised that they offered that, they could have qualified him for around 1.3M. Maybe they figured 2.7M was comparable to others who went through Arb. I guess if he's waived there are quite a few teams that could grab him, including Detroit who might want him back for cheaper.

Here are the lines, apparently its 2 25 minute periods instead of 3 20 minute periods and then a shootout at the end of the game no matter the score.
