Another year of Wagner, Lizotte and company will make me wanna break my fourth tv in 5 months.

Walker, Brown and McLellan all said the plan is to use the 1-3-1 less frequently this season and implement a more aggressive strategy, specifically the forecheck. Not sure if the video is up yet but I'm sure it will be soon.

Figured that would make some of you happy.

They should try a new approach and have four attackers with one guy back. Kind of like the strategy used in every beer league.

Today's camp lineup had some interesting line combinations that I'd like to see in some preseason games.

Moore-Kopitar-Brown
Iafallo-Danault-Kempe
Arvidsson-Vilardi-Kaliyev
Lemieux-Lizotte-Andersson
Grundstrom-Anderson-Dolan-Wagner
Tkachev-Turcotte-Athanasiou

“You can feel the tension. I think the players can count, they know how many players are in camp that are very capable of playing in the league, and they can feel the tension. That’s a good thing. That’s a really positive step for our organization, to have competition at training camp.”

I'm really loving this kind of shit! – TITB

My biggest takeaway is that the Mayor and Lisa with the Athletic have never heard of the term "snapshow".

Is this a Canadian term that I have taken for granted in my life?

I'm fluent in Canadian and this is the first I've heard of that word. Then again, could be Newfienese.

Plus, we spent assets to acquire him. Waivers would be counterproductive.

We spent a 4th round pick and got 18 games out of him. We've spent more for less.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see Kempe and Walker dealt for a left shot top 4 defenseman by this time next year.

This is where I've been leaning for a while. I'd also add Kupari who is kinda lost in our center depth chart and has value. Its gonna take 3 good assets to get that top 4 LHD.

The Mayor just said on his most recent podcast that a bunch of the Kings preseason games were being televised, but I haven't seen anything else about it.

Yeah I thought I heard something about them being on tv, but i don't remember where I heard that from. And then I checked my tv listings and the only thing listed is Frozen Fury.

The Mayor said that he expects there to be cuts to the camp roster faster this year, perhaps even at the end of the weekend. He said the team in past years wanted to give all the young guys a taste for longer, but that this year they really want to craft the team and ratchet up the competition for the final spots by going to a smaller group sooner.

I'll be watching the roster after today!

Anyone have a good centralized spot to find/following training camp cuts/moves for all 32 teams? The depth of coverage on HF fluctuates a lot between teams forums.

Center depth:

Kopitar
Danault
Byfield/Turcotte
JAD

I think Lizotte is the odd man out. Maybe the Pens have some interest. They won't have Crosby initially and Malkin is out for at least 2 months.

With the Reign now practicing at TSC, there's less of a need to keep the whole group together formally. Today's group C is just AHL guys or guys trying to earn AHL contracts. I wouldn't be surprised if after the weekend Group C just becomes Ontario's training camp and just continues on with their afternoon sessions.

Its going to be Kopitar, Danault, Vilardi and Lizotte.

Would love to hear any report on Tkachev....he's been on line 1 or 2 and with Danault, Turcotte the first few days and it's been cricketts. Have not heard 1 word or report on him.
Anyone seen him play? (asking for myself and PJB II)

What if...Chromiak stays on his meteoric rise? I was shocked to see he was #1 short burst skater in rookie camp? Wow...beating Kupari, et al? Crazy. I saw the scouching guy's report on Chromiak a year ago and while he got some good marks, also got some bad ones, with his looking lost defensively, etc. So, I began losing some hope for him back then.

Akil Thomas was asked by Hoven "if you had to single out one player at camp, to be really ready to have a big year, who would it be?" in the 3 seconds before he answered, my mind was thinking... Kupari? Turcotte, Kaliyev, Fagemo? and then Akil goes "It would be Chromiak, I think he's going to have a big year in Kingston" woah. It would be sick, if Chromiak becomes a star and rises to be the best of the top young talent? As in a 30 goal scorer? With all the hope of Byfiled, Turcotte, Kaliyev becoming legit top 6 Kings and possible others, that make a mark: Kupari, Fagemo, Thomas, Madden...and out of nowhere, Chromiak busts on the scene and makes it before many of them? Blake will have an asset management problem...a good one to have.

note to self: Self, do not put too much stock into a scouching (or any other) video review. Many of them make very good reports with data and footage...and while good, it's not the end all, be all...and not the entire picture. There's various levels of leagues, sporadic shifts and things like character, drive and how much a player can grow and develop, that really cannot be projected .
