Can someone explain what is going with Semenyov? He is still with the big club but last I checked either Amadio or Semenyo have to be sent down, or they keep both and send down one of Sandin/Lily at least on paper.
With Brooks claimed, maybe #1C for the Marlies for a spell.

Amadio and Brooks on paper look like a wash.... same age, Brooks drafted older, amadio is bigger and has more experience. Development is not linear but Amadio and Brooks look like similar players overall. Don't think you could go wrong with either, but didn't Amadio have a impressive training camp?

Agreed, never like to lose a player for nothing but he is replaced by Amadio with next man up Semenyov. nice to have options.
Amadio didn’t even score a goal last year, Brooks had 4 in half the games. It’s not some earth shattering move for the team, I guess it’s just Dubas falling in love with size. Brooks intrigued me end of last year, looked like a different player. Anyways, I guess he didn’t clear for a reason, there were lots of guys out there too.

To be sent down yea he would, & b/c of the cap he'll likely have to.

That time of the season too he's probably more likely to get claimed...

I think thats why they waived Brooks now, given that his best chance to clear would be yesterday/today. Zero chance Brooks clears in 6-8 weeks.

its dooooofus in love with anything to do with the Soo

Should get reps at #1C, maybe both special teams, and stay fresh and adapting to smaller rinks…..for a couple weeks anyway.

Certainly should not be down for more than 2-3 weeks, which would get him around 5-6 games in the AHL.

After that, they probably waive Amadio if he can't stand out.

Sick of every player who plays a dozen NHL games for us getting claimed every bloody time. Like f*** you’re telling me there aren’t equivalent or better players compared to Brooks or Leivo or whoever else other teams could pick? Being a big market is so bloody detrimental sometimes. No way any team gives two shits to pick up Brooks if he’s on Arizona or Columbus, or any other team on the list of places nobody gives a f*** about.

Sucks that Brooks went to a rival, but it is what it is. Can easily make the case Amadio is at the very least equal to Brooks, if not better. Just wanna get this season started! Cannot wait for Wednesday

Sheldon Keefe on Michael Amadio making the Leafs roster: "He is a versatile guy... He can play center or wing, power play, and penalty kill... He has really good poise with the puck" - Maple Leafs Hotstove

Can you talk about the decision to waive Adam Brooks in favour of Mike Amadio?

Keefe: It was a tough decision — one that I, frankly was not overly involved in. It is a management decision for them to sort through. As a coaching staff, we believed in both players. We have more history with Adam, obviously. He was a big part of our team last season down the stretch — he came in, played an important role for us, and did extremely well here. Mike Amadio, at the same time, has got significantly more experienced in the league and also has had a very good camp here. A decision had to be made, and obviously, it was made.

I really am happy with how Adam has progressed over his time with the Marlies to the role that he played for us last season. It is difficult to see him in this situation, but we value him as a player. One way or another, I am going to be happy for him today — he is either remaining in the NHL with another club, or he is going to be remaining in our organization, and we like a lot about him. That would be a win for us.

He would like to remain here, but the waiver system is in place for a resason. It is to give guys a chance to remain in the NHL.

What have you liked about Amadio through camp?

Keefe: I like his skill set. He is a versatile guy. He can play center or wing, power play, and penalty kill. He has really good poise with the puck and is a confident guy. He spent a great deal of his offseason here in the facility training. I just feel like he was really comfortable coming into camp, and that was an advantage for him. It was also an advantage for our staff and our players and his teammates and such that they could get comfortable with him.

In each situation that we gave him throughout this reseason, I think he did a really good job for us. He is just a good player in that sense. He is a confident guy that is looking for an opportunity here. If the Mikheyev injury didn’t happen, it might look a little different, but these opportunities come about, and I know he is excited for it.

I thought they both looked good. I hate to see Brooks go but at the same time I'm glad to have Amadio. Both looked like a wash to me.

He had a goal and three points. Brooks had a single assist.

Brooks also had 0 points, 1 goal allowed, one penalty and one giveaway as his stats in the playoffs last year. With depth players being such an issue the last two years, I like seeing turnover, especially when its earned.
Sounds good……sign the dude up

Sounds about right.
It’s a bit of a hit for the Marlies not having Brooks Amadio for now.
But adversity brings opportunity, I guess.
