Great news, another guy walked in for nothing that was considered better in Amadio.

I was replying to another poster who mentioned another Leaf player was lost for nothing in Brooks.

My gift of the English language was lacking.
What I was trying to say was "Great News", A guy considered by management to be better than Brooks had joined the team at no cost.
To offset the guy who walked for nothing.

Seemed like a small win to me.
gotcha!!! agreed.

I know Liljegren and Sandin are good friends. Looks like Engvall is part of their group though.
(ex)-marlies swedish mafia has been running for a long time, since johnsson/borgman/rosen days, and obviously liljegren and engvall joined in later that season

we're probably gonna see that trend change with an influx of finns pretty soon though!

Lmao at the people that are bent out of shape about Brooks. He's 25 and has 18 NHL games.

The player we signed to replace him as the 13th/14th forward is the same age and has 173 games played in the NHL. And he's BIGGER. That should get all of you size queens in heat.

Amadio's fresh outlook helped lead to earning job with Maple Leafs | Toronto Sun

Michael Amadio figured he needed to make an attitude adjustment.

Doing so helped the 25-year-old land a job with the Maple Leafs.

In the past, he said he might have been nervous or pressing at camp, and he avoided that in his look with Toronto after signing a one-year, two-way contract in July.

“Having a little bit more experience coming in this year and bringing that with me was big,” Amadio said. “Coming (to work out at the Leafs facility earlier this summer) gave me that extra little bit of confidence as well.”

If Ilya Mikheyev didn’t suffer a broken thumb on Saturday, the fortunes for Amadio might have been different. But Amadio did enough to beat out Adam Brooks, who was claimed by the Montreal Canadiens on waivers, to earn a roster spot.

Amadio and Brooks were born a week apart in May 1996. Amadio has 173 NHL games on his resume, Brooks 18.

I like Brooks and it's a nice parting gift for me knowing people are putting up a fight for him. Would be depressing if nobody cared. He was claimed by actual NHL professionals so I think their reasoning for wanting Brooks has some merit no?

I myself think Brooks is capable of a breakout even though I was very impressed with Amadio and happy to have him aboard. Wish we can have both.

Would be nice to have both. My comments aren't a slight at Brooks.

I just find it comical that people are so bent out of shape over who our injury call-ups are going to be. As if it is make or break.

If they had placed Amadio on waivers and kept Brooks, I would have cared the same amount. None.

I’m tired of seeing the narrative that we lack depth. This is the deepest we’ve been in my lifetime

People complaining about depth should take a look at the Avs lineup. Outside of their top line it’s ugly.

Landy - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Nuke - Kadri - Burakovsky
Helm - Jost - O’Connor
Ranta - Newhook - Compher

Boston and Tampa are looking a bit rough as well.

Most people around here will simply give each and every other team the benefit of the doubt while complaining for hours/days about the Leafs putting their 14th forward on waivers.

lol this fanbase man, so many up in arms about losing a 4th liner and replacing him with what most sane people would consider an equal if not better player.

Some people are mad. They don't know why they are mad, they just know they are mad and are looking for anything to justify that they are mad. It is happening everywhere not just in sports now days.

Keep in mind the team claiming his has some of the worst C depth in the league.

They have a 4/5C currently playing 3C for them.

Suzuki - Borderline 1C, good 2C
Dvorak - Decent 2C (ideally 3C on a contender)
Evans - 4/5C
Brooks - 4/5C

we'll find out what he is this season, as he will be head to head with the top lines from every team. he was trending up playing in the #2 slot vs secondary lines, but, he cant be hidden behind Daneault anymore, unless MTL tries to match Dvorak or Evans vs top lines, which i'd expect to be even worse.

MTL should have offered up Suzuki and Romanov to Buffalo for Eichel and got a true #1C and they would be a much more dangerous team

If Amadio makes the most of his opportunity, it will lessen the sting of losing Brooks for nothing.

That being said, I fully expect Brooks to play very well against us.

We made our final payment for the season today for 50% of the season. Still don't know what games we get though.
I split mine with a business partner so we each now get 25%. I'll be selling most of mine, just like to get on with it and recoup some money.
Credit cards were hit for full amount today I am told and tickets going out tomorrow .. so good on MLSE for moving so quickly after Ontario announcement .. I have sold my seats this year .. a little too risky for me as I already had COVID and am at risk for getting it again .. GLG

It is also okay to not rage at the world over losing a depth player to waivers who...likely hits waivers at some point this season regardless of whether we carried him on the opening night roster or not.
That's part of the hilarity, no one is raging. It's ok not to like every move.

AHL Career PPG / Peak PPG

Amadio (25): .77 / 1.09
Engvall (25): .56 / 1.07
Brooks (25): .54 / .77
Evans (25): .70 / .75

Good add for MTL, no loss for TOR.
