And the talking heads will STILL insist that the Habs are deeper.
The Habs 1C would be our 3C. Their best player is (Suzuki/Toffoli) is our 5th. Our bottom six has the most productive player between both teams (Spezza). The habs picking out #5-6 center shows that they aren’t deeper. Anyone who thinks that is just delusional

Apparently Matthews will miss the first three games due to his wrist.

also wasn’t sure where to post this so just put it here.

I was told by a specific poster here the habs are way deeper than the leafs... Why did they need Brooks?!?

Brooks was great org. depth and a Kerfoot-lite. That being said, he was mostly just AAAA depth for us with a chance at a 4C job if we moved Engvall... But we have 14 guys in the mix even with Brooks gone and Mikheyev on the LTIR, and those 14 guys are as good, or better, than Brooks.

Ultimately, I expect him to be back on the Marlies once Hoffman comes back for the Habs, assuming they don't have a run of injuries.

Betcha he is.

I just checked the Habs board. They don't even have him projected as more than a 4th line center.

Dvorak
Suzuki
Evans
Pacquette/Brooks

Poehling is waiver exempt so i assume he goes down to Laval.

If they waived Amadio and kept Brooks, the same people would have complained.

The funny part is that Brooks will likely clear and Amadio will be on waivers at 2pm today.

Can't believe Dumbas kept another midget and waived the bigger grittier PPG AHLer instead!
I hope this doesn't become another referendum on Kyle Dubas because I am so sick of those.

I am a big Dubas supporter, but I am still deeply disappointed to lose Brooks. I keep hoping for a Leafs "team" rather than a rotating collection of itinerant free agents. I had hoped that Adam Brooks would be a small pert of that.

Surely we can have an informed discussion of a player transaction without being all-for or all-against the team's management?

Even if you like the management team -- as I do -- you don't necessarily have to be overjoyed with every move they make.

Yes poehling will clearly go down now because they prefer Brooks.

And Evans has been a flop at 3C this preseason, which is why they just claimed Brooks.

And Paquette still stinks.

I like Brooksie.

But I was more impressed with Amadio and Semyonov this preseason, and they both have more impressive track records and fewer holes in their skillsets than Brooks.

None of them would actually be on the team if Mikky was healthy tho.

What's Marner to do though? Apparently he cant drive a line without him. They putting JT with him to help him out?

IIRC when Matty was out last year they moved JT into his spot. I hope they do that again and Mitch gets him scoring like he did in year 1.

Im surprised. I wasn't much of a fan of Brooks but he was a solid option for depth.

Habs fans consoling themselves by saying they're way deeper on the wings.

Lemme check....

2yr scoring paces

Marner (24) 26gls/96pts ------ Hoffman (32) 31gls/64pts
Nylander (25) 33gls/70pts --- Toffoli (29) 36gls/60pts

Bunting (26) 39gls/51pts ------ Gallagher (29) 31gls/58pts
Spezza (38) 14gls/40pts -------- Drouin (26) 10gls/44pts

Ritchie (26) 19gls/37pts --------- Caufield (20) 33gls/41pts
Mikheyev (27) 13gls/35pts ----- Armia (28) 19gls/36pts

Kase (26) 10gls/34pts ----------- Anderson (27) 19gls/29pts
Simmonds (33) 12gls/26pts ---- Byron (32) 10gls/28pts

Engvall (25) 14gls/25pts -------- Lehkonen (26) 14gls/28pts
Amadio (25) 5gls/17pts ---------- Perreault (33) 13gls/27pts

same "analogy" can be applied to amadio. then the question becomes why amadio over brooks? the answer is not obvious in favour of amadio unless you are a dubas super fan

You're assuming the answer is binary, you believe there are only two possible opinions 1) Brooks is a better player or 2) if you dont agree you are a Kyle Dubas sycophant.

In your opinion, is there no room for discussion?
