But if Bunting was the first option up on that line and Kase was welded to Kampf, then why wouldn't Bunting get the temporary looksee today instead of Kase?

Because Kase is right handed, and Bunting is left handed?

So if Mikheyev was injured and not Nylander, I'd bet a lot of money that Bunting would be on that line, not Kase.

I am talking about on paper, I think Winnipeg is the closest probably.

Obviously, we need to wait and see what happens, I am asking very early opinions based on how the players have performed and how the roster is looking.

winnipeg? don't see them as very deep but i haven't looked at them too closely this offeason.

I guess, but Mikky plays right side all the time.

For me, i see this lineup and the separation of Kampf and Kase is one of the more interesting parts. It's actually a bit surprising that they were together in the first place, and I hope they aren't wedded together.

Any guesses on who passed through waivers and who was claimed?
We'll know in 15 minutes.

You might be right. I like Kase a lot too. I just don't see the Leafs putting Nylander on the LW as a long-term solution... they never have before, so I don't see that happening in a long-term basis.

honestly even with Mikky there i'm not so sure Willy wouldn't be getting the bulk of the left side duty anyways.

I really think we may have the best forward depth in the NHL
What teams compete with us?

If they role this

Ritchie - Matthews - Marner
Mikheyev - Tavares - Nylander
Bunting - Kerfoot - Spezza
Engvall - Kampf - Kase

That is 2 first lines and 2 thirds

Bunting Kerfoot Spezza could be one heck of a line. Spezza can do the faceoffs, if Kerfoot continues to struggle, then role out to Wing... It's a very good third line.

Engvall - Kampf - Kase is pretty solid, some good defensive players, some skating...

The depth looks great.

Ritchie on the first line... I mean, hmmm, but if he can put the biscuit in the bucket, like he did the other night, screen the goalie, and cause havoc in front of the net, I'm in.

Mik has top six qualities, just needs to improve the shooting... or just give the puck up to the other two. I can see it working..

Yeah, the only issue is you really want a right shot in that point position if you're going to be using that set up.

Not a criticism of Rielly, just the optimal setup, if you had a right shot there every passing option off the setup would be to a player in one-timer/shooting position.
Right but what I mean is based on the personnel we have available, these are my ideal units. Still think it will work great with Rielly

Glad all Leafs cleared. How does it work now, say Anderson gets called up and plays a game or two, would he needs to pass waivers again when sending him down? Thanks in advance.

I believe he's waiver free for 30 days (or a certain amount of games) and then after that would need to go through waivers again if he needed to go back down.

No waivers to come up at any time. That's my understanding of it but someone with a better understanding may know better than I do.

That is right. I think it is 10 games specifically.
