If that starts to look like the case, management better get the jump on locking him up to a long term extension while it's still team friendly towards the salary cap.

8x4.5 would be a solid deal for a prime middle 6 winger.

I don't see Kakko signing that deal, especially if he's pacing to 60+ points. If he looks like he's starting to break out, we'd do well to get him at 8×6 before it's too late.

I think there’s potential for Kakko to benefit tremendously from Laviolette. Quinn was in over his head and trying to overcompensate by being really rigid and aloof with the guys. Gallant was just very hands off in terms of personal relationships, as is his way.

Laviolette has been around the block enough to not have to be cold and “tough” to get respect and he seems like he’s consistently been committed to really getting to know his guys as people. Kakko really needs that and hasn’t had it yet in America. Just an experienced, friendly coach who takes an interest in him and isn’t trying to play personality games could really help get him over the hump.

Bonino desperately needs a beard or tan
He looks like ISIS with a playoff beard

I never read too much into these kind of interviews, but Trocheck definitely seems like he wasnt a big fan of Gallant lol.

Saying things are now 'a lot different' and saying 'seems like we have a coach that takes things a lot more seriously' or however he worded it was kinda telling...

Yeah time will tell. I'm sure you had a significant other that you broke up with and didn't have wonderful things to say about them but your new significant other!?!? Oh, so much better....until they aren't.

One of the things we heard about when Trocheck signed with us is that Gallant was his coach when he played for the Panthers and things were just wonderful between the two at least the first time around.

Mollie asking every player and coach the exact same question about systems. I wonder what she decided yesterday to write about for the Post tomorrow?

Was getting ready to drag the beat writers for not picking up on some interesting quotes I found in those interviews but to my surprise Vince actually touched on some.

The Igor stuff was interesting because he did seem a little different temperamentally last season. Maybe it's just lip service because the writers kept breaking his chops for not speaking with them, but hopefully he really is in a good place mentally. Kind of confirmed a common conspiracy theory about the baby and him playing better on the road too (ie. getting more sleep).

Mika expressed an interest in learning Lavy's NZ coverage from playing against his teams in the past. Saying he wants to be on the other end of that frustrating style of coverage. Kind of hints to the fact that they need that system for slowing down faster teams. Wonder what that's about =)

Lavy expands on that when asked expressing it's use under the right circumstance. Kind of exactly what I wanna hear. Trap when teams are exploiting the zone with their speed, otherwise push offense. At least that was my interpretation.

Laffy and Kakko give the writers absolutely nothing. Not the best with media but it doesn't mater a whole lot to me.
