So much for Kakko's confidence. Does great in the skating drills yesterday and gets "rewarded" with a spot on the third line behind a 37 year old and a guy who is a natural LW.
I'm not going to jump to conclusions after the first practice lineup of the season.

D looks interesting though.

The more i hear Lavy speak, the more obvious it becomes how we have lacked a coach for a long time.

My expectations for this team keep rising. We have the talent, now we have a coach, its up to the players to work their ass off now.

Still think Laf and Kakko are breaking 60 pts this year. Chytil will also be right there, especially if he plays with Panarin.

This week, my wife and I have re-watched the 2012 Road to the Winter Classic series and watching it with a focus on Laviolette is fun. It gives you really good insight in what he's like as a coach.

If anyone is interested, I'm happy to share a link to my cloud storage where you can download the episodes.

He likely skates on the first line tomor and if not on paper that’s a good checking like that will get ice time

Forwards are likely to be moving all around so not much there for now. The D I like though. Miller and Fox would dominate a game together and Lindgren and Trouba could be an absolute menace to play against. I like that.

First lines yes. First blush. No reason to get antsy with the combos.

For the love of GOD, Kakko deserves top 6 time when its all said and done. Top 3 imho. He better be there

Fil with Panarin is a good sign and I don’t hate Laf getting first crack at top line duty. Just hope it’s not at Kakko’s expense.

Really loving the pace and intensity level

I remember really enjoying him on that show and I came away with respect for the work he does

Those line suck ass.

Those D pairs though!
I actually like them? Goodrow-Trocheck-Kakko seems to make sense to me. The difficult part of this is that, on paper, this lineup is stacked through the first 3 lines. Forget the combinations for a minute, and imagine that if all 3 lines are going, ice time distribution will be pretty even, and that's been proven anyway by stat-towing people here even under Gallant. I don't want to say that Wheeler is already entrenched on the second line, but I think it's going to come down to a 50/50 flip between Laf and Kakko with their spots.

Looks better than now

I'm not sure about Wheeler and Panarin together, but I don't dislike those lines at all. Kakko doesn't need anything more than heavy usage. Trochek seems to me like the best fit for him as a center, and on that line, he'll be the guy expected to make plays and carry the puck, with Goodrow taking some of the muck-work burden (and Trochek helping too). Seems like a clear checking line. IDK, I like it. I'd like it better if Vesey was in Goodrow's spot, but whatev.

How does another team gameplan playing against a Miller-Fox pairing for 25-30 minutes a game? If both guys look good together, the Rangers ceiling goes way up. Lindgren with Trouba allows 8 to be the offensive defenseman on that pair which, as other smart posters have pointed out, he's much better at than defense. I hope it sticks

Clendening got a PTO
That Hartford D full it appears though
Maybe some get echl time
Protecting themselves against a Z. Jones trade later in camp i bet
