Lesson #1:
You can't stand next to the net when the shooter is a Ranger. 90% chance it goes wide.
Then they failed if they think Clendening is that guy, the guy who has played 9 NHL games in the last 7 years. He was barely an AHLer last season, while Emberson won defensive dman in his conference. They want a better RD to call up than Emberson.
That'd be our checking line. Don't hate/love it but I understand why. He's easily our best 'checking' RW.Miller - Fox makes me wet
Kakko on the 3rd line makes me dry as a bone.
highly doubtful NYR signs Clendening to an NHL contractThey want a better RD to call up than Emberson.
Yesthe main issue I have with Kakko or Laf on the "third line", even if that line gets the same ES minutes, is that it often ends up being clear taht they are not considered go to players and are in fact being considered "3rd liners"
When you're down in a game, when you need to generate chances, you push your top lines. Dollars to donuts that 3rd line gets short shifted in those circumstances, when what this team is going to need ultimately (somehow) is the Kakko's and the Laf's being the guys to go to for a goal
Yeah he did okay with Hartford but the dude is no longer an NHL player, if he ever really was. Then they failed if they think Clendening is that guy, the guy who has played 9 NHL games in the last 7 years. He was barely an AHLer last season, while Emberson won defensive dman in his conference.
Clendening isn't sniffing a NHL spot on this team.
They didn't say it was a shot. Far more likely it was one too many passes.Lesson #1:

I agree. I'm hopeful that Lavi actually does what a good coach does, which is ride the lines that are playing the best in a given game instead of being a lazy brain and going with the guys with the gawdiest numbers. Part of coaching, part of having 3 lines you can depend on, is using carrots to motivate players to play at their highest level. And that's just something Gallant was terrible at. And many other coaches. But it's something we have seen in the past with coaches like Torts and Keenan and a few others. When you need something to happen, go with their most effective line THAT game.the main issue I have with Kakko or Laf on the "third line", even if that line gets the same ES minutes, is that it often ends up being clear taht they are not considered go to players and are in fact being considered "3rd liners"

Today’s Media Availability. Jacob Trouba and Blake Wheeler:
Do NHL teams typically sign PTOs for players with zero shot of playing above the AHL level? Why not just invite him to the Hartford camp, if that’s the case?highly doubtful NYR signs Clendening to an NHL contract
he could add depth to Pack, on AHL deal, but they are really deep too
(Roberston/Scanlin, Emberson/Hollowell, Mackey/Harpur, Brouillard/Hillman, Barton/Berzolla)
CBA/AHL/ECHL question - Brouillard is 28 and on his First NHL contract,
is it accurate that, as not on ELC, he cannot be sent to ECHL without agreeing? thanks
Don’t care. At AllStill no Panarin and his pretend to not speak English BS
Do you have the rankings from the skating drills?
seems to me that, these days, NHL teams do it all the time (see link below)Do NHL teams typically sign PTOs for players with zero shot of playing above the AHL level? Why not just invite him to the Hartford camp, if that’s the case?
I know there's a lot of negativity with Trocheck being the puck carrier, but he's one of the few players on the team that actually attacks the defenders, despite the turnovers. He pushes the defenders back, where as many just go wide and get rubbed off on the boards. At long as Trocheck is going forward, I'm ok with a turnover here and there when he's attacking the defenders.Plus, you really do not want Trocheck being the puck carrier, because he's not good at it and is prone to turnovers. So depending on how they skate out of their own zone, the puck's gotta go to Kakko to cross the other blue line.
I know he said lines are going to change but the fact Kakko isn't automatically in the top 6 but f***ing Wheeler is... typical Rangers stupidity.
I'm not really bothered by that because I don't think Kakko and Panarin mix well. I think we've seen plenty of evidence of that. Kakko should be on that top line, and I expect him to end up there eventually.I know he said lines are going to change but the fact Kakko isn't automatically in the top 6 but f***ing Wheeler is... typical Rangers stupidity.
A smart coach is putting out his best players, or the players showing up that night when it comes to creating offense, regardless of what line # they play on.the main issue I have with Kakko or Laf on the "third line", even if that line gets the same ES minutes, is that it often ends up being clear taht they are not considered go to players and are in fact being considered "3rd liners"

I can't tell if you're being serious here, or trying to justify your lazy reason for what Kakko should be in the top 6. There's plenty of reasons to argue why he should be in the top 6. Talking about the skating drills as why he shouldn't be demoted to line 3 in preseason is not one of them.If you watch the videos frame by frame you can calculate the players speed.
