So again, as an alternative to Jones Fox.
We are talking two different things here. I am discussing structure changes if there are injuries. You are structuring your d around Miller Fox as the established top pair. it isn't. It might be at some point but it isn't right now.

16 🤢🤮

when do we ever?
Well we did land Jake the snake on waivers!

Can someone tell me what Quick's fancy stats said about his last game against the Islanders? It appears to me that he was getting peppered with too many grade-A chances rather than him playing poorly?

I get why people think Othmann and Cuylle should start with the Pack, but...

These guys are not wide-eyed teenagers. Othmann will be 21 in season. Cuylle will be 22. They are big, physical forwards that were high draft picks. If they look ready now they should be on the big club now. It's not too early.

And there is room in the top nine for both of them if the Rangers are seeing what I'm seeing...

I don't think its a question of ready vs not ready rather than if they would be better served getting top line minutes in the A while the staff/FO has more time to evaluate what they have on the team vs putting one (or both) in a more limited role at the NHL level.

If one or both of them go off and force the issue in the next 2 games then perhaps we'll see some movement to open up a spot or 2 but I don't think that the safe play here is necessarily the bad one. Especially in Othmann's case where he hasn't played a second of pro hockey in NA. Plenty of good or even great players have started out in the A in their D+3 seasons (which it will be for Brennan.)

If there are long term spots to be had later in the season, those spots will be there for them rather than the Kane/Tarasenko esque deadline deals. Or at least they'll get first crack at those spots.

3. When lavy says the kids are the ones competing he's again calling out the vets and core here. I love it. They should be setting the tone and they aren't. This all goes back to the trouba helmet throw and the rottenness in the locker room last year. Trouba and turk did not see eye to eye on what was needed to run the team. Trouba wanted help for accountability from the coach through deployment, ice time, and taking away cookie time for those not pulling their weight but turk just kept giving the babies their binky. I think lavy has the stones to manage this properly, although it may cause some players (panarin) to check out on him. This is going to be culture shock for some...
I so hope this is the case.

To me, this is the most important thing this team needs out of a coach.

Truthful accountability, up and down the lineup. Not some manufactured accountability.

One thing the Rangers might take into consideration is that neither one requires waivers to be sent down. Not saying that's the best course, as I think both are deserving, especially Cuylle, but it is a factor.

Lav doing things in the press Quinn did. Same guys here, interesting to see if it'll be same result on ice (it will be but I think Lav has stones to bench guys Quinn didnt).

I think we have a big change of culture trade this year.
Quinn picked on the kids and used them as an example. He didn't have the balls to sit the big vets.

He also would try to send messages by adjusting his lineup, but would then revert to the same combos after a period or less. Gallant would do the same.

IMO a good coach makes a decision, is confident with that decision and is willing to not only stick with it to see if it turns out but also admit when said change doesn't work.

But whats important is any decision thats made isnt abandoned quickly. You wanna bench someone? Bench them. Make them notice.

We talk about confidence with players but it extends to the coaches too. If you are making a decision you need the players to see that it was well thought out, its your decision and you stick to your guns.

Showing your group uncertainty by changing your mind quickly only shows weakness and the players begin pick up on that and respect is lost. Then they question their roles and if buying into the system is needed.

Dude. I first responded to your post about “what if Lindy is injured?” You’re so caught up in online arguments that you lost your own plot.

According to CapFriendly since the start of the pre season 114 players have been waived. Five have been claimed (Lassi Thomson / Spencer Martin / Sam Fagemo / Jansen Harkins / Ty Emberson) It is really not something to be worried about.

I hope Laviolette can break up the country club atmosphere here. While i like Kreider and Zibanejad as players I get the feeling they have too much input into the teams running up to this point. They play ok together but i thought our best lines last year was when Kreider and Trochek were paired for a short time, chuck Kakko on with them and to me that's a real handful.

I still think there is going to have to be a sacrifice in the near future for the team to actually break out of that country club mindset.
Lavi can only do so much

They don’t need to trade anyone to do that. Not yet at least.

Start by benching/scratching the high priced vets when the situation calls for it. If that doesn’t work, then you can bring out the guillotine.
