I don't have a problem with paying somebody 3m for a bottom 6 (3rd line minute role), the problem is that Doodrow is not used as a matchup player here, and doesn't have 2 other players put in the same position. The Zibanejad line is often used as a matchup, and Goodrow is thrown on a skill line like that's going to work. The term was too long. And every single move to get tougher and harder to play against has back fired or became useless.

Goodrow doesn't really fit our team when he's in the top 9.
Goodrow was never a matchup player. This is the matchup player:

Blake Coleman kind of sucks too.

Kreider doesn't distribute either. If someone recommended for him to be a center I'd say the same thing.

Look at his shot totals compared to the Rangers other 4th line players with similar TOI. Where do you need to be in order to get shots on net? If he is also missing a ton of shots as you say then that means he's spending even MORE time in the offensive zone which is actually a good thing
That doesn’t necessarily mean good. In fact there have been times where he has flown into the zone and ripped a shot off. That doesn’t equate to positive results or offensive zone time if he is constantly missing the net and then it becomes a turnover of possession, which does happen often. He is a shitty shooter at the NHL level. He is 30 years old. I don’t see this magically changing. I would rather him not shoot the puck and dish off to someone else to keep possession longer.

I just don’t think Brodzinski is good like at all outside of having a lot of speed that has no purpose.

And I say this with all the respect for you Viper

I am a little intrigued by Sokolov but he is another LW.

Panarin-Zibanejad-Lafreniere
Kreider-Trochek-Kaako
Sokolov-Chytil-Wheeler
Goodrow-Bonino-Pitlick/Vesey

I realize many will want Cuylle there and I'm not opposed to that either.
Soko plays both sides and listed as one or the other depending on the website. The knock on him seems to be skating, so he'd fit right in!

I wasn't suggesting that Goodrow was ever as good as Gourde, or could even sniff his jock, but that line worked and Goodrow played his part.

- Goodrow
- Trocheck
+ Gourde

Drury messed up.
Gourde wasn't available when Goodrow was signed. If the choice is Gourde, yeah, you take him. But it wasn't.

I feel like Chytil "missing" opening night is a bit premature when the season doesnt start for another 9 days

Claim Bernard-Docker and Sokolov waive Harpur, Brodzinski and trade Jones

Bernard-Docker upgrade over Jones and Harpur

Is it crazy that no one has any idea what happened to him? I mean no reporter at practice noticed what happened? I'm hoping just a shoulder tweak but if he misses opening night which is over a week away you have to be a bit concerned it's something more serious.

It's pretty much a a guarantee that Kakko isn't getting a shot with pp1. Hopefully with a competent qb on our second pp rather than Trouba he might get a few good looks on the pp2 but good luck with that 20 seconds of pp time.

Gourde was the one who wasn't available. Shoulda magicked that shit.

I know what you are saying but:

So what, he wasn't available then. Doesn't mean you have to make bad signings without planning for the future.

Gourde is on Seattle now and we have Goodrow and Trochek. Different decisions then would have lead to a different result now.

Drury shouldve just put force trades on. Simple solution. We couldve had him for Sammy Blais and Libor hajek!

Or we could have not signed Goodrow! What a concept!

If Lindy is hurt, then literally no answer will satisfy you. Lindy Fox is the only thing that's "a thing" according to you (and admittedly historically for the past few seasons). But it's not "my lineup," either. It was your hypothetical of how to deal with less than optimal situations.

Miller Fox played last game. Lindy Trouba played tonight. You may not like it, but it's currently being toyed with. The team has looked LOST when Lindy has been out, so might as well work that shit out now, right?

But, hey. Sure.
So again, you are stuck on Fox Miller for every example you gave.

You still couldnt afford Gourde in that case. He got claimed in the expansion draft anyway so I dont even understand how that was a Ranger screw up
