Well sure, it's just refreshing to have a coach who seems like he has a plan and has the experience to get you excited that he knows what he's doing.
I think Gallant was the right hire coming on the heels of Quinn, considering all the reports around how Quinn was micromanaging everything and really on top of everyone. It made sense to bring in a more hands off coach, unfortunately Gallant was so hands off that it became a detriment as the player' comments at the end of the season referring to "needing help" and stuff like that. I think Gallant would've been a perfect coach to come in after a previous coach had laid down solid structure and then Gallant comes in and is the ultimate players coach, the issue with this group is coming off Quinn there really wasn't much structure so with Gallant being really loose with his system and hands off with the group eventually things deteriorated to a group trying to get by on talent most nights but when met with a tough matchup they had no answers. The group just became too directionless under Gallant. I still don't think Gallant is a bad coach or that he was a bad hire, he wasn't at that point in time especially with the lack of available options, but moving on from him was definitely the right move IMO.
Obviously the results are what matters but from where it stands now everything I'm seeing and hearing from Laviolette and the players has me feeling pretty optimistic.
Biz just wants views.
YeahThey have a Vezina trophy winning goalie, a Norris winning Dman, depth down the middle and a solid forward group. Hardly a house of cards.
I thought you were talking in code?
Put Rempe in front of the net on the PP. He should be able to put up a lot of points from that spot.I don't think that's true, especially if you consider Reaves from when he was 27-30 years old.
He appears to have the skating and mindset to be an effective forecehker and he knows what he has to do in order to be effective. Keep the puck low, use his size, get to the net. There is a lot t be said to find a player who has that mindset and the skating ability at 6'8.
What I'd REALLY like to see is him work with the AHL coaching staff to better understand defensive hockey and positioning. If he can turn himself in to a 10-15 point 4th liner in the NHL who can also be relied on defensively he will have a full time role somewhere. Ideally we would see him hover around 25 points this season in the AHL over 75 games or so.
Because TNT wanted to replicate what they have with their Basketball Panel for NBA games. They wanted to inject some personality and humor, while likely trying to connect with younger and casual fans. I cant stand Biz and think he is a fool but I get why TNT employed him.How is this clown employed with TNT? He is awful. It was better without him. His nonsense is getting old really quick
I think people need to come to terms with the fact that the rebuild is over too. Some have been slow to adjust to the new reality
The rebuild is dead. Long live the rebuild.
Just going from one rebuild to another, because we never fully committed to the first one and it shows.
I for one, to the point about coming off Nashville stint, have wanted Laviolette for years. He’s a hell of a coach. An actual real coach. Quinn and Gallant are not good coaches. Gallant you knew would have a shelf life of like a year basically. Quinn isn’t an nhl coach. This group like I said earlier this week has not had a legit systems real coach. Just hasn’t. So the excitement for this year is that really. Seeing this core with an actual system in place.
This is NOT meant as a direct-comparison, or projection of what Rempe might become
But watching Rempe, at 21, take on the toughest guy in their lineup,
gave me a Troy Mallette throwback vibe
"Rebuild" "Reload" it's all semantics. What I do know is that as a fan, watching the Rangers deliberately be bad under Gorton and Davidson was some of the least fun I've ever had watching this team. It didn't help that their mixed messaging had the fanbase at each others throats. I dont care how we got to this point, but it certainly feels that this team has the actual elements needed to win a Cup, which the Lundqvist-era Rangers of my childhood never once had. It wasnt a straight line, but I'm pleased with how it all turned oout from a big picture perspective. Now lets never do it again.
Almost every team that has lost has also gone through one.
Well they lost in 7 so it couldn't have been 4 straight. Every winner was a loser until they weren't. And some plastics can be very strong, and flexible.Yeah
Exit 1st rd in 4 straight after winning 2 out of the gate.
I do so love your positivity... it's a nice ray of sunshine in their plastic facade
Reality is dark

Reality isn't dark. It's grey.
Stupidity is hard to accept.
We are a flawed team because we took shortcuts and some wonder why posters are upset by that.
What could have been with two more years of patience.
Buddy's learning!I thought you were talking in code?
What could have been soothsayer? All of you perpetual rebuild folks love to say that, but you dont know jack about what wouldve happened just like the rest of us. If we gave Gorton & Davidson 2 more years of "patience" we might have fired Mike Babcock last week and not Columbus.
There's no magic formula or crystal ball. It's why Dom L's model has the Leafs as the top team every year. Make the playoffs and take your chances, that's what hockey is. Vegas had the same Cup odds as the Rangers going into last season, just saying.
This just isn't true.
We have been trying this way for 30 years now and it's not working for us. You don't just roll the dice and what will be will be as long as you are a playoff team.
It's just a shame this mediocrity is acceptable to so many.
Some fans don’t actually want the rangers to win, they just want to see a perpetual roster of 19-21 year olds who can’t even make the playoffs because it’s “the process”.I don't even know what you mean by "trying this way" for 30 years. I'm 31 and I've certainly never seen the Rangers pick as high as 1st or 2nd. This roster is also lightyears more talented than any that Hank had. Winning a cup is hard; whining about the team having no chance because of some arbitrary set of rules is a an easier path for some I guess.
I love how Laviolette played just Laf and Chytil as the only vet forwards against the bruins. Dropped Laf into some uncharted territory for sure. I think that’s the kind of thing that’s great for development. Would have liked the team to stick Laf and Kakko into more prime time roles - even occasionally - in the past. The team has given these guys extremely sheltered minutes. Even when they got higher numbers of minutes. Seems they’ve never been shoved into the deep end, so to speak. Doesn’t have to have been a regular thing but just, on occasion. Anyhow, so far so good with Laviolette I think. It can actually be both.
Blue chippers need to play and in every role possible. They were blocked in doing so. Kakko and LaF would be further advanced if they got to play more, especially on the PP.
But at the same time, do I regret not having a decade run of a Weight-Amonte combo?
Not for one second. Because that team was ready to win right then and there.
This team, imo, has not been.
Especially not Gallant’s practices…!…practice pace doesn't cut it for experience in game time situations.
I’m convinced Kane is going to come back strong. Like him or not, he is a junkyard dog.
The chair…Is against the wall.I thought you were talking in code?
Why do you say that?I see almost everyone penciling in Bonino as 4C. I kind of don’t see that happening. Maybe I’m missing something tho.
He’s getting up there in age and really hasn’t done much recently, and for worse teams. I get Jeff Halpern vibes from him. I just don’t expect much. Why do you say that?
