Definitely Bread

Trouba was a need moving forward at that time because we didn't have much in the pipe as far as D

Bread was to satiate the fans... keeping us "exciting"

After the letter we should've truly bottomed out. I wanted to deal Buch earlier. I wanted to deal Kreider. I wanted more 1sts no matter where they fell. More ammo.

IMO we'd be further along because we'd have had more kicks at the can in the 1st rounds. Laf or KK aside we'd have some center prospects (unless our scouts are / were complete morons... another topic) at least.

We're a house of cards. Just my opinion.
They have a Vezina trophy winning goalie, a Norris winning Dman, depth down the middle and a solid forward group. Hardly a house of cards.

Really the only spot avail on pp1 is bumper and neither kakko nor lafreniere are fits for that role. Bread or Mika aren’t going back to bumper.

So really it’s chytil/wheeler/Trocheck that’s going to get that job.

Trocheck may get it because he can win a face off frankly.

Chytil is the better shooter of the 3

Wheeler the more creative player of the 3

PP2 should be laf and Gustafson up high kakko on the right wall chytil in the bumper and either wheels or Trocheck net front

Somebody (Rempe) needs to call a Code Red on Biz's ass.

The guy is a clown and enjoys getting people riled up. Who's going to make the playoffs in the Metro? Washington? Nope, Pitt? doubtful, Clolumbus? Nada, Philly? Nyet. It's going to be Carolina, NJ, Rangers, and maybe Piles.

Seems like the honeymoon phase to me. Similar things were being said about Gallant at this point in his Rangers tenure by you and others. Nothing wrong with it, just pointing out how this can repeat itself. Lav is an accomplished coach. He seems to have good assistants set up. In the end, it will be up to the players to make him look good.
Well sure, it's just refreshing to have a coach who seems like he has a plan and has the experience to get you excited that he knows what he's doing.

I think Gallant was the right hire coming on the heels of Quinn, considering all the reports around how Quinn was micromanaging everything and really on top of everyone. It made sense to bring in a more hands off coach, unfortunately Gallant was so hands off that it became a detriment as the player' comments at the end of the season referring to "needing help" and stuff like that. I think Gallant would've been a perfect coach to come in after a previous coach had laid down solid structure and then Gallant comes in and is the ultimate players coach, the issue with this group is coming off Quinn there really wasn't much structure so with Gallant being really loose with his system and hands off with the group eventually things deteriorated to a group trying to get by on talent most nights but when met with a tough matchup they had no answers. The group just became too directionless under Gallant. I still don't think Gallant is a bad coach or that he was a bad hire, he wasn't at that point in time especially with the lack of available options, but moving on from him was definitely the right move IMO.

Obviously the results are what matters but from where it stands now everything I'm seeing and hearing from Laviolette and the players has me feeling pretty optimistic.

LOL you know which coaches do not get hired by multiple teams? Guys that can not coach. Laf is a "retread" because he has shown repeatedly he can coach.
Yep. All coaches move around. It’s the nature of the business. The good ones bounce around for twenty-plus years. The not-so-good ones are gone much sooner. Almost none of them stay anywhere for more than four or five seasons.
