It doesn't matter anymore. I've said my piece.

Fully expect Blake to try to save his job by purging Turcotte/Kaliyev/Spence/1st for some goalie before Christmas when the Kings keep losing games 5-4 and 4-3.
First of all, I highly doubt you've said your piece...that would just be impossible.

Secondly, what would it matter if Blake traded away any of those...let's not forget that the Kings don't play the kids nor can they develop picks. Sounds like a win win.

Hoven reporting his understanding of the plan:

For those who don't want to read it, here's the breakdown:
- Spence, Kaliyev sent down to AHL to be cap compliant
- Kings will wait until tomorrow to put Rittich on waivers. They feel Rittich is less likely to be claimed by teams already with a set roster
- Kings will send Rittich down to the AHL Wednesday when he clears. Kaliyev will come up to continue his suspension for the first two games of the season
- When Kaliyev's suspension ends, he'll be re-entered in the lineup. Laferriere will go back down instead of being a healthy scratch.
- While not stated explicitly, it sounds like Spence will come back up after Laferriere is sent down.

So games 1 + 2 will be:
Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Dubois - Laferriere
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Grundstrom - Lizotte - Lewis
Kaliyev

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Roy
Englund - Bjornfot

Talbot
Copley

Then games 3 on will be:
Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe
Fiala - Dubois - Kaliyev
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Grundstrom - Lizotte - Lewis

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Roy
Englund - Spence
Bjornfot

Talbot
Copley

Maybe they shouldn't be spending assets to "go for it" two years in a row then.

Madness, indeed.
Glad that they decided against the 11/7 nonsense and put Laferriere in. But lmao at Englund not only playing, but playing his weak side when we have a perfectly good Spence ready to go. Remember when it was smart to pay $1M to an AHL tweener because it would guarantee he got through waivers? I guess the Kings would rather eat the poison pill themselves than dare give Spence (let alone Clarke) a couple extra games.

That's one of the things that irks the f*** out of me.

I can maybe understand hanging onto toby or even a goalie an extra day or two

I cannot understand hanging onto englund whose best feature was the deal designed to clear waivers just to bury spence and clarke.

year after year after year these guys cannot get out of their own way

Wait, you are telling me the Kings are not yet one of the ‘elite’ teams in the league? It’s been 2 years since they were a lottery team, how much time do they need?! Madness..

That would make sense if they were rebuilding but they’ve now traded multiple picks and prospects to win now. They need to be elite. They don’t have time to not be elite now. This is the road Blake chose.

Told you all Englund would make the club :)

The only teams softer than the Kings last year all added tough players this summer. We can’t be the weakest and softest team in the league.

Don't forget, "Our powerplay will be our enforcer"

Man I miss the day of Raitis Ivanāns patrolling the 4th line, taking longer than shaq to get down the ice!

The most unhappy fan base in LA other than the Clippers.
Yeah, a botched rebuild, shit defense, failing prospects, and the worst goaltending tandem in the NHL. I wonder why people aren’t happy..

It’s almost like the Kings are their own worst enemy. But no worries, we have the blindly optimistic fans who couldn’t see a neon sign in a pitch black forest.

I'm pretty excited. Last year the King's needed a center to push Lizotte down the lineup, a top 4 defender & a goalie. Today we have added a good center & good defenseman. Goal isn't ideal, but should be an improvement on last year & shouldn't be too hard to upgrade during the season.

Got stuck with a bad 3rd pair for two games because Kaliyev went duck hunting. After that you probably see Spence & Clarke cycle into the 3rd pair.

Englund isn't a big deal. Team needs size & toughness on the 3rd pair & Björnfot, Clarke & Spence are never going to fill that role. 82 games is a lot & Englund can grind out some of those minutes.

Edit: Almost forgot! Lewis!!!!

Just a reminder that Englund has passed through waivers unclaimed three times in his career — 2019, 2020, and 2022. Spence isn’t in the opening night lineup because of him.
That is unfortunate. I feel for Spence. He mentioned more than once that making the team this year was his goal and he gets sent down because of waiver eligibility

Nothing to do with Englund, it appears the Kings are going to go 11/7 for now with the Kaliyev suspension. Spence will likely be recalled by Wednesday and in the starting line up, the third goalie is causing the CAP issue which demoted Spence. If Rittich is waived today, that helps the CAP issue prior to game #1. However the timing, the most likely scenario soon is Spence and Kaliyev up (to start serving suspension and get that out of the way), and Laferriere and Rittich down. The big wild card is Laferriere. If he does play on opening day and shines like he did in preseason, it's could throw a wrench in the plans, but Tmac as already said publicly Kaliyev is not losing his roster spot due to the suspension.

Watch the waiver wire. Fair chance Rittich is waived today depending on the line up strategy for game #1 tomorrow. Can he get through? Big loss for the Kings G depth with the uncertainty in net and a blow to the Reign if he is claimed. Kings are not the only team with 3 netminders. Colorado, Detroit, Philadelphia, Montreal and Buffalo also have 3 on the roster. It's a game of chicken right now to see who will blink first. Teams worried about the depth being claimed due to injuries. Looking at you Tampa. Maybe some others.

Hoven is saying Rittich is on waivers but I don't see it reported anywhere else. Is he just tipping the hand he's heard that they're going to play today, or is he just speculating/making stuff up?

It's not much of a stretch I guess, one of them has to go down.

I think Talbot stays regardless.
