Man, what would the detractors do if both Byfield AND Turcotte went off this season?!

I’m sure it would just then turn into the ‘it didn’t happen fast enough’ narrative.

What say you boys? @Sol, @Raccoon Jesus , @Herby , @Kurrilino (omg, there are so many, my head is spinning) let’s hear ya!
Byfield will go off. Maybe not PPG but I see him having a 20 g 40 a season while doing a ton of dirty work along the boards.

Hope Turcotte stays healthy. I always viewed him as a more skilled Moore with a chip in his shoulder and that has not changed.

Just want to see what a year of healthy play does for these two.

I think only one of those, maybe two would be called a detractor of either of those players. You can probably figure out which two.

I think Laf is going to be one of the bigger surprises of the draft. He looks ready, obviously. I suspect when he comes up he's not going back down. Nice to see Turcotte keep up his nice play. It will be a big boost if he can shake the injuries because he looked great in camp.
I think he will be better than byfield and a little bit below Vilardi IMO

If being disappointed by a player that people throat incessantly who’s had 3 goals last years in 50 plus games then yes I’m one of those detractors.

I know you’re just stirring the pot on purpose, but I guarantee every single person listed and everyone else on this board would be ecstatic. We all want the Kings to win. We would all happily eat crow.

Went off where? To the KHL?

I don't think QB's skating is good enough for that league tbh.

I never had any issue with Byfield or Turcotte since i don't judge players before they turn 25.
This is why i always stand up for keeping the youngsters as long as possible.

If someone needs to be judged, it's players like JAD who have given every opportunity since years and never showed any kind of skill and is also undersized.
Why we kept him over Fagemo is far beyond me.

Hindsight waiving both JAD and BJ and keeping Fagemo up would've made the most sense.

Also isn't it crazy how the preseason is over and we still don't know who our starter is. Like we really just have 3, C+ tier goalies.

Here we go again.

So RJ, who was/is the biggest Turcotte fanboy on this forum is now a detractor? My opinions on the player have never changed, I have always said he had Copp, Cogliano ceiling and just that he was never going to come close to what people thought originally. Now if he reaches what I said he'd be 4 years ago it will be rubbed in my face by you, right? Probably someone who thought he was going to be the next Jonathan Toews.

RJ was also a QB fan, how is he a detractor? I have always said PLD ceiling if he gets there, is that what you want from a #2 pick? No. Was he a poor value at #2 OA? Yes. But apparently that means I think he is a bust who will be playing in the German league in 3 years.

You just make stuff up about so many people here, it's just amazing, you should stop listening to the voices in your head.

The reality is there probably isn't a starter right now. I expect Rittich to be in Ontario by Wednesday, but Copley/Talbot gonna rotate until someone grabs the net

I know we don't have any real high end 1st round pick prospects anymore besides Clarke and Turcotte in the AHL or Juniors, but today's Ontario game was really fun to watch.

Turcotte, Laffy, and Pinelli all scored. Clarke played well, Portillo was solid. Helenius got into a fight.

Pretty good for two former 1st rounders, two 2nd rounders, a 4th rounder, and a trade from Buffalo.

The sad thing is it's now two years in a row the Kings haven't picked a first. They need to keep their 1st rounder this year. I'm sure we can all agree that Turcotte, Clarke, Laffy, and Thomas will all be graduating to the NHL this year or next, so that leaves no one in Ontario.

Also, the 2022 draft looks to be a bust. Even though the Kings had no 1st, they had seven picks and not one is in the NHL or even AHL.

I thought you said he looked like a 'championship caliber 2C much like Richards'?

I think that shows how little faith they have in our starting duo, that they are scared of losing Big Save Dave and wanna sneak him through later this week.

Or...wait for it.....or...if they lose him and a goaltender goes down, what is the plan, Portillo? Not ready yet.....

But yea, your theory works as well....I suppose....

It was the perfect way to start their season. Felt great to watch. Makes me very hopeful.

Laffy so solid. He's like an upgraded Iafallo.

i think it shows how stupid our administration is

they're afraid of losing Rittich lol

meanwhile, a better goalie named Martin Jones is available for the same price

I thought you called me a detractor and a hater?

A championship 2C is obviously an expectation from a pick like that, I expected Turcotte to fill that role when the Kings took him with a 5OA pick, and then the Kings presumably would suck in 20-23 and would along the way find their true elite 1C. Unfortunately that didn't happen either and both picks will end up being bad picks (which doesn't mean both players are busts)

Upon seeing him play multiple times in person I said what I've been saying for awhile now.. I said a quality guy to put on your offensive oriented third line, who will play with energy, character and provide some offense. But that any offensive expectation that you would expect from a Top 5 pick (being able to play in a scoring role in the NHL) should probably be scrapped. Now that he is getting closer to being able to be that type of player in the NHL, you are going to make up that I called him a "bust" and pretend that your predictions, which as recently as 18 months ago were still that you "weren't worried at all" about his upside, were right.

I’m not gonna even pretend to lie, this board was a hell of a lot more pleasant place without our pissy pants younger step-nephew around needlessly stirring shit.

Ignoring the shit heels is working just fine for me. Even when they send their PMs they get deleted without being read.

Life is too short to waste on people whose opinions aren't worth your time.
