Will be an interesting afternoon

my understanding is you can't send down waiver guys today as they take 24 hours to clear and have to have a final roster today, we're currently over cap. Is JAD claimed? Maybe laferriere goes back down and they just had him up for practice? They clearly had some sort of weird end around today no?

Edit: maybe i read the waiver thing wrong

Byfield-Kopitar-Kempe
Fiala-PLD- Laferriere
Moore-Danault-Arvidsson
Grundstrom-Lizotte-Lewis
Kaliyev

Anderson-Doughty
Gavrikov-Roy
Englund-Bjornfot

Copely
Talbot

Waived: JAD
Sent Down: Spence
Cap space: 111K

That would be the roster for the first two games I'm guessing.

Kaliyev sent to the AHL after suspension, and Spence called up.

I wonder if they're going to put Lee on LTIR which allows them to go over the cap by a certain amount? I think they'd still have to send at least one person down, and it can't be a waiver-eligible player.

I would take Ross Johnston.

FYI - I was in person at two of the three rookie camp games in Vegas, was front row at the Vegas vs Kings game in Vegas and also at the Kings vs Ducks in Anaheim games - Laffy is the real deal in the games i saw him in.

Lee should go on SOIR, correct?
I'll be honest, I had never heard of SOIR until maybe a week or so ago, and haven't had time to understand the difference of how it affects the cap.

Quickly checking, it looks like his cap hit simply doesn't count, but it doesn't allow the team to go over the cap. Is that correct?

If yes, Austin is reporting Arvidsson left the ice as Chazz just posted above. Maybe something to do with that.

I’m confused on the goalies:
Rosters are due by 5pm so with no goalie waived are LA going with 3 G to start season??

I believe that is correct. Similar circumstance with Vilardi a few years back. Listed on the SOIR list on Cap Friendly to start the season.

Since Rittich was not waived yesterday, it appears that way. But the opening CAP compliant roster today, does not necessarily mean it will be the true opening day roster on Wednesday prior to game #1. Rittich can go on waivers tomorrow to make room for a skater prior to the first game and remain under the CAP.

i feel like i remember someone saying arvidsson looked hurt or something after a hit last game? hopefully it's not an LTIR thing but that SOIR is an interesting move if so

If Kaliyev doesn't make the opening night roster, you have to wonder if it's just never going to happen with him and this management team/coaching staff. There are going to be warts with this player that are never going to go away, you have to take the good (lethal world-class shot) with the bad (skating, defense). Plenty of other teams have players like this on their roster, and they maximize the good and try and minimize the bad. If Kaliyev is demoted in favor of a younger rookie who has been in the organization for about a half a year it seems the Kings are unable or unwilling to do that.

Kaliyev is not a young kid anymore, this is his 4th year of pro hockey.

Didn’t he get hit hard ?
