I wouldn’t deal Roy - Spence is very small, same with Anderson. I stood next to both again today at the season ticket event. So basically that would leave Doughty, Gabby, and Englund as the only big Kings D. I wouldn’t call Doughty big either.

One of the reasons Vegas beat Edmonton is their D is huge and made it tough on the skilled forwards. Hague, McNabb, Petro are all huge and physical. Even Whitecloud plays a chippy game. Theodore and Martinez aren’t small either and they aren’t scared to get involved physically either.
I would, along with Arvidsson and Bjornföt. I’d then upgrade LD3 with a physical guy and goaltending. We have plenty of forwards to fill out the top 12 skaters.

Looks like the Kings are going the 11F-7D-2G for atleast the first two games while Kaliyev serves out his suspension.

Anderson-Dolan and David Rittich on waivers.

So 11-7 to start the season

I see the plan is working perfectly hahahahaha

What could possibly go wrong with the worst bench manager in the league

christ on a cracker this whole org is just oozing incompetence and I'm glad the nationals are catching onto it, need someone to put these guys on the hotseat since the locals are too f***ing chickenshit to say anything but yes master

martin jones is miles ahead of any of the present nightmares we have in goal. the money aspect makes claiming him a non statrter unfortunately

Clarke is bigger than Doughty.

Rittich did not go on waivers today as expected, JAD did. Expect to see Spence sent down tomorrow for the initial roster (12F, 6D, 3G) including suspended Kaliyev to be CAP compliant, then the Kings waive Rittich by Tuesday and bring Spence back up prior to opening day on Wednesday. Clever ploy if true, better chance for Rittich to get through the waiver process, but not foolproof. Tampa and Colorado looking for goalies due to injury, Martin Jones one player waived today that those teams could find interesting.

I was wrong about martin jones cap hit being too expensive- read where its 875k. Thekings should snatch this guy up somehow

Rittich was not put on waivers yet.

Are they actually going to send down Kaliyev, Byfield, or Spence down to the AHL to continue their plan of kicking the can down the road? Edit: Or are they going to waive Copley?

Is it really that big of a deal if it's for one day to try to avoid Rittich being claimed while still being cap compliant?

They still eventually need to send a goalie down if they send someone else down, unless they never plan to call someone back up.

Can they send Kaliyev down before he serves his suspension?

It sounds like that’s exactly the plan to avoid goalie-needy teams from taking Rittich off waivers tomorrow for the opening day rosters. It sounds like it’s a one-day maneuver.

Yes, but he will still have to serve his suspension when he comes back up.
Interesting. I'd send him down for the first 5 games - some very tough opponents to start and Laf looked good. Edit: 7D 11F is def not ideal

If I'm under 25 in this org I'm asking for a trade ASAP so the Kings don't ruin my career by artificially deflating my income potential with waiver/RFA games
This is actually a very interesting point that deserves broader discussion.

Kings prospects given the slow boil, sleight of hand waiver bullshit, and minimal playing time in the roles they were drafted to play have or could see their earning potential limited while in this franchise.

We heard directly from McLellan last year that there was dissatisfaction among the AHL squad that felt they were better than those playing in LA who were under guaranteed contracts.

Obviously there's a lot more to it, but its not out of the question that it could impact the organization.
