GDT: Training Camp 2023

If push comes to shove, I’d much rather see what Bjornfot can do than Englund.

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Clarke
Bjornfot - Roy

Not surprised to see Fagemo and Thomas waived. The other guys were always going to be playing in Ontario.

A few other fun names waived: Lias Andersson, Philippe Myers, and Jack Rathbone.

So what’s the goalie situation in LA now?

Rittich had a good camp yes? But LA is still going to go with Talbot and Copley?

Personally, I waive Copley and his 1.5 million. I don’t think he’s an upgrade on Rittich especially for the extra money.

Worst case scenario is a team like Tampa grabs him, and then waves him when Vas comes back

I honestly think his higher cap hit might scare off teams and we might be able to slip Copley down into Ontario, which allows us to call him up later. I think Rittich would get claimed. After last year, I’m all for having a decent goalie down in Ontario that we can call up and that sure isn’t Portillo.

Ya'll fought me but I'm calling it now.

Doty signs a two way and is 13th forward.

Englund makes it. Bjornfot is either an extra or waived.

Copley waived and Riitch is up for now.

Good to see Helenius still up, but he and Turcotte, both waiver exempt will go down.
I'm convinced Doty is just here for the last preseason game against Vegas.

They'll be tough guys on waivers here in the next 48 hours that can actually play hockey.

There are better options already available.

TM always has a tough guy on his team sometimes even two. Same with Trent Yawney - Pat Maroon basically said on some podcast that he basically told him to not be scared to fight and add that element to his game. Both these coaches like tougher players.

Go thru TM's hockey database from when he played to when he coached. Always tough teams. He saw the Kings get BULLIED last year. We all did. It was embarrasing.

Englund on the 3rd pair isn't the solution.

MacDermid, Lemieux and McEwen are all gone. They replaced them with no one.

The 4th line is soft, small and old. The Oilers bullied us two years in the row from the MacDavid hit on Anderson to the Kane/Nurse/Kassian/Kostin hits, scrums, etc.

If Doty isn't the 13th forward then either two things happen:

The Kings sign a player like Ritchie or Comtois OR call up Hodgson.

Hard to compare without QOC thrown in there. I know TB was drawing the top sharks last night. Moverare was also getting some tougher matchups. They were the best in the preseason taking it all into account, I think.

Of course you don't waive Bjornfot, he's several years younger.

So, do the "tough guys" not stop the Kings from getting bullied or does McLellan not dress tough guys?

Look at last night for example. Doty didn't fight Sabourin for no reason - Sabourin ran Fagemo earlier with a hard hit and he skated off slowly. He made him accountable and put Sabourin to a knee. That sends a message to the Sharks and the rest of the league - you run the youngers guys and you have to answer to Doty, a really tough guy, who can hurt you or your teammate.

I've played ice, roller and friends with a few ex NHL players, Accountability and intimidation is real.

Having Nick Ritchie, a consistent 25 point guy as our 13th forward at league minimum would be huge.

Reality check.

Doty released from his PTO and assigned to Reign camp.

I’m not sure what your point is?

This tells me nothing about the training camp any of them had. Even advanced stats say little due to the sample size but the numbers would be slightly more useful. Genuinely I’m not sure what you’re trying to say.

Lee is injured so can’t be waived.
