Where do you get the with and without breakdowns? I was looking at Dobber’s line tool and eyeballing who he was playing with mostly.

Natural Stat Trick has a line stats tool, it's a WOWY type thing with up to 5 players. I'm not quite sure how it calculates and the numbers always seem a little off to me, but it definitely gives a really good idea of who is playing with whom.

It tends to work really well with defensive pairings. But when it comes to guys that bounce around a lot there a lot of numbers moving around, so what you are seeing on Dobber isn't a terrible estimate - he saw a good chunk with those guys. Lizotte played 135 minutes at 5v5 with Iafallo and Vilardi. He then only played around another 20 minutes with Iafallo without Gabe (154 total min) all season, but he played another 60 minutes with Gabe with different wingers (192 total). He played 427 minutes without either of them. It shows how much he moved around last season. You could say his most consistent linemates were Iafallo and Vilardi and be 100% correct, even though he played 3 times as much without those two.

i just now realized the game is in San Diego. I just got back from SD. If i had known, i'd have stayed an extra day or two and gone to the game.

Really good interview with Jordan Nolan. Admitted to having a hard to checking into games and being fully engaged his entire career.

Also said Colin Fraser was the worst player he ever played with as a King.

No, because Copley salary is 1.5 million and other goalies on the team have less salary, we can add goalie and another player for the same amount of money
Calling up a goalie would take up one of the 23 roster spots though. I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding, but how are you having a cap compliant roster?

Sending down Copley only frees up a max of $1.1, I believe. The entire contract isn't buried. So that leaves $400k cap hit + the contract of the goalie called up. It would be a max savings of around $2-300k, which isn't enough to call up another player.

Could lizotte ever be more than a 4c? He scored 35 points last year...could that ever be 50? How talented is he?
He has talent, he has willpower, and he has the heart of a lion. If byfield with his size would play like Lizotte, he would be a perennial all star.

Unfortunately, Lazard is about 5’6and 170 pounds and can be found flat on his back side more shifts. The dude bounces right back up and I love his commitment and I admit he does have skill but last year I believe would be a truly high-end season for him.

I would treat them in a heartbeat just to get rid of the $1.6 million salary attached to him, and bring in a guy that could play limited minutes on the penalty kill and provide some toughness

But it is a start. I think the kings will try and script and save for pennies every game in hopes that by the end of the year they can add another body or have a little money to use at the trade deadline.

I understand he got a thank you contract for what he did last year but that extra half million he received really does hurt a cal tight team. It’s a goal Leo play some in the spring and he can clear waivers and we do save a couple hundred thousand dollars. I am good with that.

Talbot might not be the sexiest name but I think he’s a lot better goalie than anyone else we have in the organization. I’m not going to try to hard if Rittich is the back up going into the season.

I think Copley will be claimed and it will relieve of 1.5 million

Not many teams have the space to do something like that, and of those teams almost all of them already have set goaltending situations. The only way I see something happening with Copley is if someone has an injury in the preseason.

Here’s my official wishful thinking lineup to open the season:

Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe
Turcotte - PLD - Fiala
Moore - Danault - Arvidsson
Grundstrom - Lizotte - Kaliyev
Lewis

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Clarke
Spence - Roy

Talbot
Copley

Has PLD gelled with anyone yet?

We may see Fiala play down the roster again and serve as a bit of a one man line. He didn’t gel with Kopitar, either. He’s a player that really demands the puck to be effective.

P.L. is gonna end up on Kopitar's wing before Christmas.

PLD will probably be given a long look with Fiala. He fit well with Kyle Connor, who has that same speed, agility, and shot that Fiala does. It took PLD a while to sync with Connor too, but once they did Connor's numbers went through the roof.

Soft. TM won’t go for this.
The only minor changes this has from our most likely opening night lineup is Turcotte in for Lewis and one of Spence or Clarke in for potentially Englund or Bjornfot.

Is Englund really a difference-maker in your view? Because he sucks at playing hockey.

Yes because the Kings are soft as shit without him and Spence or Clarke will get run.

Also, not shocked if Doty makes it as the 13th and or gets a contract or sees some time in the NHL. Same with Hodgson.

Athur Kaliyev on the 4th line once more; Lewis AND Grundstrom still on the roster after showing nada so far. Don't like it one bit.

Plus Turcotte still doesn't have to go through waivers yet; let him cook in the AHL.

I have a feeling Kayilev, Byfield, and Grundstrom will be the ones that could lose spots during the season - two could go to Ontario without waivers and one makes almost 2 million.

Watching the rookies - they are much more exciting than the Kings. The Arizona games were boring (except for the Doty fight).

The games in Anaheim and San Diego and also the rookie tournament was fun.

Pinelli, Turcotte, Clarke, Helenius, Laffy, and Hodgson all bring some kind of excitement.

Pinelli is weird.

He has Jake Debrusk potential but goes invisible some games like Akil Thomas does.

One group played against NHLers after traveling to another continent and having to adjust to being 17 hours ahead of their normal sleep patterns.

The other group was composed almost entirely of AHLers on both teams.
