I apologize for anything bad i've ever said about Woody in the past. Guy is an absolute gem and i'm stoked that he's our Head Coach and not some over the hill Dinosaur

When they were talking about Skinner's development, he gave credit to Dustin Schwartz (not specifically but in general). He should be canned for that alone.

:sarcasm:

I liked his comment about how he's not looking to bury anyone on the first day, but I just watched videos of Torts bag skating the Philadelphia Flyers during their first skate, so it stuck out to me

I can't remember where I saw it...(maybe Tim & Friends?) but they were talking to a Flyers player who played in CBJ under Torts and how he sends a handwritten letter to each player coming to camp and tells them what he expects and they'll be skated hard.

Good old Tortsies.

What a great human being and teammate Campbell is.
Campbell and Stu both seem like great guys. I hope they can support and push eachother this season.

Come to think of it, this is probably the most likeable Oilers team in years -Woody is an articulate and well spoken coach, Hyman seems like such a genuinely good and humble person, Puljujärvi has that ridiculous and almost child-like big grin and enthusiasm, Barrie always brings a bit of humour and positivity to his interviews, etc.

It's an easy team to get behind when the players also seem truly likeable as people.

Agreed, but it also seems like the most hated Oilers team in years by other fans haha.

Thats because we're getting more relevant by the season.

Rivals hate good teams.
Oilers are hated whether they are good or bad. The cockiness and arrogance of the 80s Oilers has for better or worse established the franchise as one of the bad guys of the league. They'll simply never be one of the league darlings that can do no wrong like San Jose or Colorado.

It will be fun to see the vitriol that will start flowing if the Oilers truly ascend to be an elite team, rather than the incessant mocking of Oilers for being pathetic that has been prevalent for the last two or three decades though

Personally, I'd have Hyman-RNH on the 3rd line. Those two always look great together and to have a 3rd line that good with two elites driving the top two lines makes the Oilers infinitely more dangerous. It's almost like three #1 lines really or at least two #1's and a #2.

I also like the Yamamoto/Puljujarvi switch. Never understood the love that several coaches now have for the Drai/Yamamoto pairing, it just doesn't fit IMO. I think Yamamoto would be more effective on a higher paced, higher chaos line with McDavid and I could see Pulju being better on a line that emphasizes cycle and winning battles down low so I like the combos. Not sure who I'd put on Drai's LW, maybe something like.,..

Kane-McDavid-Yamamoto
McLeod-Draisaitl-Puljujarvi
Hyman-RNH-Foegele
Janmark-Ryan-Virtanen?

I think Holloway starts in the A but I could see him being a good fit on either the Drai or RNH lines. Man, what a tasty forward group that is especially if Holloway is ready to make an impact.

Kane-McDavid-Yamamoto
McLeod-Draisaitl-Puljujarvi
Hyman-RNH-Foegele
Janmark-Ryan-Virtanen?

I like this set up a lot but my only concern is both JP and McLeod have not proven themselves as finishers. Maybe this year they can.

Move Foegs down to the 4th to replace Virtanen and put Holloway in his place

I've seen it, and a lot of it is large amounts of denial. They still think the Oilers suck, and that the Oiler's recent run was undeserved or a mirage.

I'm referring to the kind of hate, resentment, and envy that the Oilers being one of the best teams in the league and a cup contender would inspire.

I love Woody...the dude is so present every second and every answer.

You can see just how much he is in tune with how the team is and how he answers every question

This team is goin places w/ him
He’s a complete breath of fresh air. At first listen or glance, people may think this guy seems like a softy. In reality, he is clearly running the show like any coach should and every answer he has is deliberate and clear. Not to mention a super likeable guy.
