He's an excellent possession player, who's very good defensively 5 on 5, just hasn't found consistent finish offensively on a nightly basis and is likely to start the year as RW3.

Really depends on how deep your league is.

There's a slim chance that JP puts it all together this year and is a consistent point performer and moves up in the lineup but there are probably better picks around the league. Like Jimmi said, he's likely starting on the third line and will probably get the occasional second unit PP time at best.

Probably best to keep on eye on him and grab him off waivers if there's an injury or he's moved up in the lineup instead of burning a pick.

Hes not a guy I would draft but he can be worth picking up for stretches when you have injuries. There is stretches he will be with one of Leon or Connor.

From what I've learned around here...analytics guys love him, eye test guys hate him. My opinion is if you took him in your pool to be a point getter, you're probably going to be disappointed. The ship is getting ready to set sail with me. Don't get me wrong, I like him but for being taken #4 overall in what will be his draft +7 year, he hasn't panned out for me.

I don't know.

Nurse is a better goal scorer. He's more than a year younger. He's 6.4 vs 6 feet. Nurse is way harder to play against and plays more minutes than Weegar.

Weegars last two years were his best on a stacked Florida team. 80 pts in 134 games. Nurse had 71 pts in 127.

2.75 AAV is significant enough for sure but ask this question in a year or two.

Yup. As awful as Nurse was in the playoffs (playing injured…), all I can think of is ‘Strip Club’ Weegar getting Ethan Bear’d for the game tying goal in the final seconds that pretty much sealed the series as a sweep.

At least Nurse has shown to be a capable playoff performer in his previous campaign where he was one of the better players on the team and had that nearly historical game 4 outing.

He had excellent skating as a young man. But his nerves is not with him. He gets very bad hands when to finnish. Having trouble to control a pass. A bouncing puck is a big big task to master for him. Great though at 5 vs 5 esp. as a forechecker. Is a 2nd liner with the right linemates. Though is easily a square peg in a round hole with most of guys. Fits well with versitile players.

Weegar is a lot like Ethan Bear. Has great fancy stats because he doesn’t make a ton of errors, but the ones he does are usually catastrophically bad. That’s why there’s the divide in stat watchers and eye testers.

Nurse provides a ton more individually hence the price tag.

Weegar is actually at 6.25 so the situation with Nurse is that little bit worse in comparison. Nurse at 7.5-8 would have been fair enough in my eyes but I look at it as an investment in keeping the band together. If things don't work out with McD and Drai down the road resigning here, then all I have to say is....BOHICA....... Nurse will be the perennial whipping boy.

I think Nurse signed the long term deal because he knows Leon and McD are staying. All 3 love to play together

Nurse is a bit better overall player but not 50% better.
