Yeah I think the only lock for the 4th line is Gagner. I think Gustafsson's safe to make the team, whether he starts or not is up in the air, I honestly don't know who has been better between him and Toninato in preseason. I think Eyssimont has been more noticeable than Harkins. Next game for #23 will be a big one. Eyssimont, Stenlund, Reichel all these guys are battling for a spot. Right now I'd say Maenalanen is holding one down.

I suspect the Jets start with 23 players, and Barron on IR, but I guess it still remains to be seen whether the Jets carry 7 or 8 defensemen. I think Kovacevic probably gets demoted, and passed through waivers. I also think Gustafsson would get picked up if the Jets took that risk. Not that he is amazing, but if Adam Brooks can get picked up on waivers, I'd say Gustafsson is probably more impactful as a PKer.
I don’t think they'll risk exposing Gus. I don't see them keeping Kovy up though. It really depends on who makes the team out of the forward group.

Maenalainen has been a dark horse and I don't think he came over to play in the A. I'd expect him to stay up.

I think the top 6 is set to start the year. This is actually the first game they are playing the full Perfetti, Wheeler and Dubois trio. Perfetti has looked great but it's the other two that are doing the typical vet take it easy thing. Hopefully both Blake and PLD ratchet it up a notch tonight so that we can see if that line is in sync. As I have said I'm concerned about the finish on that line.

All three LD also getting another game. Let's see if one steps up tonight.

I agree with you on the top 6. A line of shooters and a line of playmakers. Both sub-optimal IMO. Just swap KFC and Perfetti and both lines are better.

It isn't horrible because the finishers can make plays and the playmakers can finish. It is just less than it could be with 1 tweak.

It’s a bit confusing to see all of our trigger men on one line and then PLD as the finisher on line 2…. I thought Connor and PLD had huge chemistry last year

Would be great to see a breakout game because fancy stats suggest our top six should be
Connor-pld-perfetti
Ehlers-scheif-wheeler

I really like that top line. Just their ability to make plays. It's conceivably the 3 best players on the team, skill wise. Ehlers is a terrific playmaker too, he complements just about anyone. But with Connor they will make plays quickly.

2nd line I'm not as sure about. I understand that they want to surround an important players like Perfetti with guys who can win puck battles. Maybe Perfetti becomes a trigger man on this line, which would add another element to his game. Dubois with the net drive can get some tap ins if he plays the right way. He's probably the player I am most concerned about, in terms of effort, but on a one year contract with the Salary Cap going up he could also cash in with a big year.

I don't expect the top 6 to be set in stone. It is the 6 best players at forward in it for now.

Though I wasn't there I can imagine that Bowness in his conversation with two of his leaders in 55 and 17 heard that Scheifele wants to play with other players than Wheeler, be the leader, and Lowry wants to contribute more than defensively, and as coach he has probably acquiesced to his leadership.

I am quite excited to see the Moose this year. To see a new crop of young talent (Salminen/Bauer/Lucius/Nikkanen/Torgersson) playing a full year with the Moose.

I don't like your top 6 any better than Bowness's.

I don't like Perfetti at RW. He can play there, but that is just a mark of his versatility, not something to be desired. Ehlers has been thriving at RW.

Perfetti- Scheifele - Ehlers
Connor - Dubois - Wheeler
Ticks all of the boxes. Has Wheeler away from Scheifele. Has at least 1 finisher on each line. Keeps KFC and PLD together.

If they add Lambert to that Moose team this year, that forward core is an absolute unit. Lambert looked great when I watched him.

I think Bones will keep Perfetti on the 2nd line to keep him away from the other team's top D pairing. Not saying I agree but I think that is what de is doing.

PP1 Scheif PLD KFC Perfetti Ehlers with Perfetti running the show.

PP2 Wheeler Schmidt Lowry Gagner Pionk

Run PP1 for a good 90 seconds at least.

Surly you know they will get mixed and matched all year. They're all interchangeable.

The challenge is that Connor-Dubois-wheeler never produced points…

ESW also had really nice numbers together but for some reason Pomo never stuck with them

Tough break for Eyssimont, he probably should have stuck around, but if he passes as an early waiver candidate, that's a player you can bring up for a spark. Sometimes all you need is an opportunity.
I think he did everything he could, there's just too much talent ahead of him at this point

I wonder if Eyssimont's off ice persona matches his on ice persona. Can't understand how he keeps getting looked over otherwise.

I don't either -
Will be surprised if he clears -
I thought he was exactly what this team needed in the line up - scrappy little player that can show the rest of them how to compete. I thought he would have caught Bones eye in a good way
