Bruins got a bit meaner at the deadline. Completely forgot about Peeke being available and didn't think anyone would trade for Maroon. Boston and Florida rounds 1 and 2 is gonna be a slugfest.

Peeke and Maroon appear to be barely NHL talents, esp PM. This will be interesting to see how much of Peekes brutality was CBJ driven considering the fan love he had on this board. If a D man is going to bounce back from a high suck environment I think the Bruins are a place of choice. Good luck to him.

The Bertuzzi and Domi deals were show-me contracts. They've underwhelmed in terms of what we were expecting, but they have been a lot better lately. I'd be okay with re-signing both to deals that come in and around the $8.5 they combine for now. Bertuzzi has played down what he'll get, while Domi will get a marginal bump. If not Bertuzzi, I'd be okay seeing that money going to a Toffoli.

Honestly, I'm more excited for the off season than the playoff.
I'm excited for both. Should be a busy offseason, especially if we fail again this year. Playoffs should be fun to watch as well since they'll be physical and competitive games. Just got to hope our goaltending will be good enough.

Bertuzzi moving away from Matthews and Marner was the best thing to happen to him. Feels like every winger playing with them just feels like they have to get the puck to one of them and they get away from playing the way they are most effective.

Leafs HAVE to start conversations with Tavares about waiving the NMC. At worst he says no.

Strip him of the C and tell him they aren’t re-signing him.

Great person off the ice but the Leafs can’t be paying $11 mill to a 3C.

You don't treat your captain like that. Doing so would destroy their ability to sign free agents because nobody would want to play for a team that treated people like that.

I keep saying I want them to piss Marner off so that he waives, but that is just frustration talking.

....that's exactly where Bert is most effective. Without the puck on his stick, letting others create and just grinding.

Domi has not underwhelmed at all.

They say that until it's time to actually take a solid deal.

Would he take a 3-5 year deal at 3M?

I think Domi will do a deal at 4-5 years at an aav under 4. And i actually expect so far ateadt that they'll get an extension done.

Burt is harder because they seem to like him but his offensive production hasn't come close to his cap hit and he had a very rough first half. Which means he either have to do another one-year deal, both sides have to compromise. Less confident about him extending but wouldn't write it off completely

Bert is a damn good playmaker himself. He's good around the net but he can make plays. He was just stapled to the front of the net on that line and forced to retrieve pucks for the other 2 guys. Pretty much the exact same thing Hyman was forced to do here and now Knies.

I think we need a centerman who can play on the powerplay and the penalty kill. I see us going hard on Chandler Stephenson over re signing a Domi.

This is what makes what Treliving just did so hard to swallow.

I don’t have any issues not blowing our brains out on bad deals. This team isn’t beating anyone.

But why piss away 5 draft picks as well as lose a young player like Lagesson for nothing to bring in 2 UFA’s who really are not tipping any scales our way?

We essentially lost 6 future players for nothing. Scarce assets that could have at least been used this summer to get trades done.

Lost Lagesson, further depleted our drafting/trade capital with

Brodie, Gio, Boosh, Edmundson as UFA’s.

Our defence next year right now is

Rielly-Liljegren (not feeling any Keefe love and poised to sit out 2nd consecutive playoffs)
McCabe-Benoit
Lajoie-Timmins

Makes no sense.

All I can say is it’s a resounding vote of non-confidence by Treliving, that I get, but wasting 6 assets like he did?

That I don’t get.

Interesting times and I think significant changes coming in the Summer. I just wish he held on to what we had to give himself as much ammunition to make trades/signings in the offseason.
I'm fairly certain we will re-sign Boosh. Edmundson I have no idea though.

I wonder what that Ullmark trade was all about. Maybe Danault? Dodged a bullet if that was the case.

"We can and we will" has turned into we did and it didn't work. Only option left is to let Marner walk and use the cap savings to re-balance the team.

I would give Bert five years at 4m, but not sure he would accept that. Domi, not so sure, we need bigger and better C.

There’s no honourable way out of this mess, at least two of the Four need to go asap. Signing Nylander was a mistake. It’s a shame Tre didn’t have more time to explore the possibilities of trading 88 and 16 before they’re NTC’s kicked in, now nothing can be done……….

Probably PLD.
The Bruins don’t acquire malcontents, they trade them away……….
