Proud of Tre for not going full Dubas just to fake compete with this roster. Save our assets and retool in the offseason after Boston caves our brains in.
Didn't give up major assets - but I'm not super pumped giving up 5 mid picks for replacement level players (while also losing one to make room for them EDIT: and a prospect), either

All the more reason to put interesting/entertaining talent on the show.

All this astroturfed bs does it make people resentful the whole thing.

But any honest person would rather be watching Grapes right now instead we get this.
Oh you poor baby.

Yeah, Vegas are on a different level.
The only thing I hope and pray for is some specialist doctor can diagnose why stone keeps getting the trade deadline disease. Surely someone can help this poor man with a cure. It must be extremely frustrating to catch this deadline disease year after year. Thank god for the playoffs

The league doesn't bat an eye since it's Vegas.
If the Leafs put Tavares on LTIR and activated him for the playoffs there would be an addendum to the CBA outlawing cap circumvention within weeks.

colin miller for a 4th to jets is a good move and one i would have liked , then flip Lil for futures if they've soured on him

I'm not thrilled about throwing away some mid round lottery tickets, but, ultimately, Treliving managed to come out of this with the my 2nd preferred outcome.

As I've said all along...

Scenario #1: Trade the 1st round pick in package for an impact, cost controlled player, with term remaining on their contract, whose prime years fit in with Matthews, Marner, Rielly and Nylander.

Scenario #2: Keep the 1st round pick and draft the best player available to you, ad the prospect pool has become shallow and underwhelming. Nothing wrong with draft pick in the #20-#23 range.

Any other scenario would have left me bitterly dissapointed.

Treliving doesn’t believe in this group. Big decisions this summer
The new CEO will have some say .people say he won't but he was hands on in the European golf
We ll see
And u can bet the board is wondering how this team is paying basically 5 guys and expect the other 15 guys to make tye playoff differences

While I agree, it's low downside, high upside in its totality.

The depth pieces help for a long run, no one gives a crap about the picks. The Leafs flame out in the 1st round again, at least no high picks were sacrificed and the mid-round picks can be relatively easily recouped.

I hope your right but im having a hard time not thinking that what we will actually do is re-up marner to 12+ re-up tavares 3x6 re-up bert 3x3.5 and re-up domi3x3 and if we cant find another dman re-up brodie and then be told lessons have been learned.

That’s been the Dubas way

I’m hoping we can trade Marner back to Dubas, free up a lot of space, revamp the D in the offseason, pickup some wingers with huge balls, sign Tavares to under $4m and go out and get a 2nd line center

Lots of work to do, but if they can’t beat the bruins AND the panthers this year, the experiment has to be over and it’s time to go in another direction

No team is unbeatable, just ask the Panthers last year or the Habs a few years ago. I understand that this team is just a bunch of regular season heroes but gotta have some form of optimism they can finally do it. It is what it is.

I don't think it's fair to expect the manager of this team to have the same loser mentality.
I honestly think the best thing for this team is to go into the playoffs as heavy underdogs with most fans and media pundits writing them off.

I think they will play much better with something to prove as opposed to dealing with the pressure and expectations they have been accustomed to the last few years.
