Have Dubas and his fanboi brigade not learned their lesson about trading for damaged goods after the Foligno debacle?
Or top heavy rosters lol.

The only thing worse than having two C and a winger each getting $10m+ would be to have THREE (3) C each getting $10m+
Getz will retire before he leaves Cali! that dude drives a Lambo to games. This thread has no sense of humor
I dont know how that's possible when you support the leafs.
Anyways, I'm looking for secondary shooters this offseason who can also bring grit and speed to the top 6.
For vets, I'm looking at Getzlaf and perry.

It's too bad Soshnikov didn't get a chance to really play with our current team/system. Would look nice in our top 9 and loved the energy he brought.

Watch the signings will be Gretz and Perry.I think they'll make a significant add mainly because they understand that unless they can change the narrative a bit around the team and reignite some hope, Marner might get the Carlyle treatment from fans in the stands.
Imagine doing that with Jon ToewsDo what TB did with Kuch. Use that extra cap while he's on LTIR and sit him out for the year until playoffs haha.
Coleman, Goodrow, Saad
Perry
Saad-Matthews-88
Gally-JT-Marner
Goodrow-Engvall-Coleman
Brooks-Spezza-Perry
Keeps the core 4 together like they wanted but I personally would see where Marner got us....Rielly/Marner for Provorov/Konecny?

Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Bogo
Mike Hoffman is another possibility. Good scoring threat, nice speed, only one year removed from a string of high end seasons. He is also from Kitchener so he is somewhat of a local kid too.
He may be a better fit for the Tavares-Nylander line since Matthews and Marner are not exactly guys that stand in front of the net (for good reason in Matthews' case especially), but he would be a major asset to a PP with Marner on it and adds another scoring threat for teams to worry about.
We have 3 natural scorers only on the team ...Matthews, Tavares, and Nylander.
I believe we lost vs Mtl because our top line didnt have a secondary scoring threat, and it was easy to just double team Matthews, nd thats why Nylander was productive, as the top matchup was always vs Matthews and Nylander was too much for the secondary shutdown they had.
its also what made our 2nd unit so successful, the dual scoring threats.
if we lose Nylander, that weakens us more than losing Marner, as the scoring threat is always more dangerous than the 'playmaker'.
Watch the signings will be Gretz and Perry.
I think they need to understand they can’t build a team with 3 10mil plus players, but at the same time they are afraid to trade one of them.
One solution would be to spread them out and led them lead their own lines. Their individual stats might suffer but as long as they win, esp in the playoffs, who cares.
Ass defensively though and not a great locker room guy. Wouldn't be the type of addition I would want to make. Depending on how the other additions went, Granlund at LW with JT and Konecny could be fun.
Apparently that is not true, and even the thing with his wife was not proven. Apparently it was based on rumours and they ran with it before there was any concrete proof, and that created the unnecessary tension. He had no issues with Florida or STL as far as it was known.
Defense is obviously a concern, but I think having one pure offensive specialist for low term and reasonable dollars to add another scoring threat to a Marner PP and our top 6 is worth it. Worst case, he sucks and we just let him go next offseason, but I highly doubt he will be worthless altogether.
Provorov and Konency are both very overratedI heard it was true and the trade suggests something was amiss there.
I thought he did well in FLA but was interesting they simply let him go on top of STL using him sparingly, he wasn't that good there just had a real great PP hot streak to end season.
If the below is slightly off, sign a D for 200k less than Hutton but I think there is enough wiggle room to make it all happen.
5M x4 for Saad
3.5M x 4 for Coleman
2M x 4 for Goodrow
4.5M x 3 for Granlund
1 yr deals for Reimer, Spezza, Perry, Hutton, Bogo

Provorov and Konency are both very overrated
Provorov is Muzzin level player when on and is usually very inconsistent. He's had 2 terrible years in his early career so far. He's not a guy I'm targeting in a Marner deal.
Rielly should be sold for NHL ready pieces with his 5M space being used to sign a stop gap like Martinez for next year until Sandin hopefully becomes a competent top 4 LHD.
Marner going out should bring back a proven star not a player with terrible playoff stats who is undersized and tries to play a chippy game but doesn't have strong skating or physical tools to play effectively that way.
Rielly with an extension for Podzolkin + 2022 Van 1st top 3 protected
Marner if he is deal (I'd put the % of that happening at less than 5%) my target is Seth Jones (extendd at 8x8) + Bemstrom and maybe 3rd rounder in next year to get some draft capital
I'd stay away from the flyers young core players. Flyers have had lots of troubles and these guys along with sanctum haven't been good enough in Philly giving me doubts they can handle the Toronto market

If you're trading Marner to Philly, I think it needs to include Konecny and Farabee as part of the package that you get. I forget who else was talking about this, but Farabee would be the guy that you try to add as well because he's a top 6 winger on his ELC and he just scored 20 goals this season. So you're getting production with cheaper guys that you see a ton of value in.
Edit: It was @SeaOfBlue that brought it up as part of the package.
We disagree on pretty much everything.
Vancouver doesn't do that deal either.
Provorov is a guy even their own fans have been down on after his poor play this year. I just don't agree with him being a 1D and a guy you build around personally. He's a guy I'd want to avoid
Konency seems to low of a player to target in a marner trade.
If it's Marner + Rielly for Provorov + Konency
Rielly > Provorov at the moment thought Provo is 3 gears younger and signed 4 more years at probably around what Rielly gets long term (maybe 500k less)
Marner >>> Konency as a player and as an asset.
Both 2015 draft picks. One is a elite ppg+ winger in his career while the other is a 60ish point forward. Both have had playoff struggles though marner has been better and reduced at a better clip than Konecny
Konecny's playstyle also has me weary as he could fade early his latest 20s or early 30s trying to be a chippy and feisty game while being undersized physically (like a Mike Richards)
I'm fine dealing Marner and if we can't reach a reasonable extension on rielly him as well. But I don't see how the leafs are a better team witb Provorov as our 1D and Konency as our 1RW or 2RW.
I also think we can grab Podzolkin out of vancouvar for Rielly. If they don't give up a 1st than Podzolkin + 2022 2nd for Rielly.
Rielly being a home town guy from BC would be an attractive get for the nucks. He'd also be their 1D and help shelter Hughes until he can handle top minutes and competition better.
Podzolkin is attractive for the leafs as he's a heavy powerforward type of player who's shown at world tournaments that he loves driving to the net with the puck
Feel he can be a 20 and 20 guy as soon as next year while on his ELC giving us excellent value.
Probably would be the smart thing to do as JT Miller is going to be wanting a cash in UFA deal. Though it's Benning and he's o e of the worse long term planning GMs in the league. He could be tempted to make a move to save his reputation and job as the nucks need to make the playoffs next yearThey've been waiting on Podzolkin for a while, I think they're going to allow them to walk away from JT Miller in a few years.
I would stay away from him I heard he’s a cancer in the locker room not something we need we have enough problemsMike Hoffman is another possibility.
