It doesn't how many points Marner gets or goals AM scored scored in the regular season. Both of them need to show up in the playoffs. I don't think you can ever get the right value when trading someone like Marner and AM. Even the Weber and Subban trade was not equal value due to their age and stuff. What matters is building a team to Win the Cup.
If Marner or AM is traded and I don't care who is coming back, even if it is Mackinnon, it doesn't mean the Leafs will 100% advance to the 2nd rounds and beyond.

I do agree with that, I'd try and get another piece as well if I could. The difference between Marner/Konency is greater than Provorov/Rielly including contracts imo. But as a foundation I like it
No doubt about it. I think if Marner is traded, it will be along with another good player on the Leafs.

I don’t think he said winger. He said

1.) high impact/high potential player that didn’t play in the playoffs.
2.) us based team.
3.) multiple years left.

-so might not be a winger. Could be a d or even goalie.
- the high potential thing makes me think young

Could even be a player that player was on a playoff team that didn’t play.
Ekblad would fit that
I know he is not young but i have a feeling its Couturier

you have a better chance growing a third leg than the leafs trade Matthews

another fun fact: Matthews was third on the team in playoff points. It’s not like he was a 0-1-1 type player.

Point I am trying to make is that trading Marner or AM or anyone won’t mean 100% advancing to 2nd rounds and beyond.

Gallant with an expansion team has a finals appearance and a loss in round 1, if anything that finals appearance screwed him because expectations were nuts. Also won 2 QMJHL titles along with WC Gold for Canada just recently.

Boudreau, 2 AHL titles along with 2 final appearances. Numerous 2nd and 3rd round appearances.

Keefe - Favoured to win against both CBJ and MTL...lost. AHL title
Keefe was NOT favored to win vs Columbus, they had the same record as us, and were our worst possible matchup.
MTL loss is valid (yet required losing their Captain, and best defensive dman), but, so is his resume for his age is just as if not more impressive, and also has an AHL championship win
I do believe he mismanaged the team by leaving Hyman on the top line and not mixing it up and not having them ready.

Don't have to, they do that well all on their own
LOL amazing. So true. This loss is different for a lot of fans. The players thought it'd blow over but the anger hasn't. Especially as the habs are going to the f***ing top four. This was pathetic and someone needs to pay.

A Canadian team was always guaranteed to be in the final 4 without facing a single American team.
For that reason alone, it’s possibly the worst thing this franchise can do up to this point.
Notice I say up to this point.

Also unlike Marner, he actually made good plays to get those points. Marner just had to make basic plays to get his assists, and half of them were things he was not even involved in. He was just the second last guy to touch the puck.

The ideal destination for Marner is an NHL city starving for a young star forward. The Kings and Ducks don't have that player. Maybe Dallas, maybe St. Louis, definitely Detroit, San Jose and New Jersey. Who can make the best offer for this class of forward?
Don't forget the Jackets.

Matthews got 2 points doing basically nothing, the hyman secondary assist, and the Nylander 3-1 goal in game 7 he didn't do much/anything on those plays but got the points.

Matthews was terrible this series. He didn't create much for himself or for manner. Both sucked and really saying that Matthews had a good series where he was creating offense is just putting blame off of him because he is a personal favorite of yours. He was horrific in this series just like Marner

If there could be a package with Philly for both Konecny and Provorov, you do it.

To Toronto-
Provorov
Konecny
Frost
1st Round Pick

To Philly-
Marner
Rielly
Engvall
It's funny how bad I wanted Konecny with our #24 pick. Widely expected to be the pick there at that time. And then we traded back to gain a pick...and grabbed Dermott and Bracco. Trade didn't age too well lol

Something tells me this group of cowards have more in store.

Honestly a lot of people tell me its just a game, or things happen or its just sports. But its not even about that. Leaf fans deserve so much more. All we EVER ask for is effort and to show you care. To bleed blue and white as much as the fans bleed blue and white. Or at least care about winning. Notice how most folks were happy after the caps series? We aren't completely unreasonable.

But when you have absolutely NO pride, don't care about the fans who support you the way they do and pay the paychecks, you are mental midgets and embarrass the team , the logo and the city then I'm sorry. I want their lives to be miserable until they get to the next playoffs and show they've changed (hint I doubt that happens). Lastly, if you're going to be a bitch about money and negotiate and play hard ball, then you better f***ing deliver. I blame dubas on this. He let one person run him now all players run train on him. Pathetic.

People scream about the Korshkov/Dermott selections over Aho/Carlo/Hart/Debrincat/etc. but for me, the Konecny gaffe was the worst miss, as much as I like Dermott.

You had a buzzsaw junior captain with a high offensive ceiling fall into your lap and you decide to trade down? Even on draft day, he was the prototypical Leaf fan favourite type who happened to be from London. Just a classic case of overthinking the pick.

Then consider that Dubas wanted Emil Bemstrom in 2017 and it's even more painful to be reminded of Rasanen, Korshkov, etc.

On topic, would love Konecny, but another name that fits CJ's billing is Garland.

I don’t disagree with this

Need more size to be honest. He's a fine player but we need some size and someone who will help our PK. I'd endorse Like Glendening and Brock McGinn.

We just need to have more size if this playoffs have taught us anything.

I think people have to realize that when Dale Hunter was here, he was in charge of the draft. Dubas had little to no say in it. He handled the trade down and the return on value, but not the players picked. Hunter would have already decided he wanted to move down at that point.

The value on the trade down was fair. The selections obviously were lacking especially given the depth of the draft. In hindsight, Hunter was not really good even in 2015. It became more clear in 2016 and 2017 anyways, but even in 2015 he was not that great all things considered.

I wonder how a 4th line role beside a guy like Spezza sounds for Ryan. I dont think he's looking at many better linemate options and there's always the potential he could play up

If you want to help our PK, keep Andersen off of it. Our PK was excellent when he was not in net.

Our problem is that Hyman and Kerfoot are likely gone this year. We should still have Mikheyev and Marner, plus Semyonov joining, but we are going to be adding 3rd liners who should be PKers as well. McGinn would be nice if he comes cheap, but Glendening is not good at anything except winning draws.

I mean he had 1 5 on 5 goal and 1 secondary 5 on 5 assist. That is pretty horrible production for 2nd highest paid player and recent rocket winner. Also not like he lit up the PP either
