Judging by your roster it looked like you might be protecting

4 Forwards
Matthews - Nylander
Tavares - Marner

4 Dmen
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl
&
Campbell

for expansion purposes .

We still need to sign Dermott and expose him, but we’re pretty set for expansion.

Engvall, Kerfoot, Dermott and Hutchinson get exposed. Everyone else is protected or not eligible.

If we can’t sign Dermott, Holl gets exposed and we just protect 4 forwards and 3 defensemen.

You projecting Kerfoot is the player that the expansion Seattle Kraken take?

There's probably a fair chance it happens. The strong recent playoff performance + the fact very few centres will be made available to Seattle likely make him an attractive target

Surely you aren't basing your opinion on the 2 plays you've referenced here

Sandin is a God-awful skater.

Not sure how much more you need to see of him to realize that fact.

Once he got hit by Perry - - which resulted in a turnover that led directly to a Montreal goal - - he was playing scared for the rest of the series. Being afraid to take a hit from Jesperi Kotkaniemi is a total embarrassment.

If he plays like a puss against Montreal, how will he ever survive against Boston or Tampa?

Perhaps you believe Sandin will grow a pair and not play so soft, but I don’t see that ever changing.

Usually, guys who are smaller but made it to the highest pro sports level are either really quick and speedy or play with an edge(small man syndrome). Sandin is neither, which is strange.

Sandin was hammering people last year. This year he must have been tentative because of the injury.

Exactly.

When you’re small, slow and soft WTF good are you as a hockey player?

Evidently the analytics/NHL21/fantasy crowd has cone up with some stats to fool themselves again.

Might be surprised at who’s available. I can see Nashville exposing people like Duchene or Johanson.

There will be a lot more #4/5 D men available though from teams. Guys like Holl or Dermott probably won't stand out as much as we think.

Seattle also has a bunch of stats people in their front office and Kerfoots always had attractive underlying analytics.

Though obviously it's all still speculation at this point

That’s our top PP quarterback you’re talking about....

Probably just a coincidence that the Leafs PP was historically inept and gave up about as many short handed goals as they scored PP goals.

I’m sure they must have led the league in “expected goals” and “high danger chances” on the PP though.

I'm not saying they won't take Kerfoot... but they'll probably play him at his proper position.

I think Kerfoot will be gone to Seattle...played well in the playoffs and is on a decent short-term contract.

Yeah but if Aho or Werenski were on the leafs instead of Marner Dubas would have panicked and gave them 10 million a year making them not as attractive.

you do realize that

1.) aho signed an offer sheet to leave

2.) Columbus has had half the team walk out the door and many insiders have specifically reported that jarmo squeezing RFA in negotiations is a huge factor in players wanting out right?

not the best examples.

Yep. I came to the same conclusion honestly. I expected it to be dermott but man it’s hard to fill out the C spot for them. I tried a few mock drafts. I think kerfoot is going
