How much offense did Rielly generate by leading the rush into the O-zone? It was a lot. 2 or 3 times per playoff game. And we didn't score enough goals. I like Hamilton a lot. Especially if he's a UFA. But we don't have any money. I really don't want to continue to watch Dubas torch this teams future because he can't manage a salary cap.

Muzzin out for futures. Andersen out as a free agent.

Sign Hamilton. Re-sign Rielly.

TBD on Hyman.

I would do the Eichel for Marner if Buffalo adds something as an injury protection.

Eichel is better than Marner as he can create his own offense and score on his own not relying on Matthews or Tavares to accumulate assits.

Eichel is bigger stronger and more physical than Marner.

If I am the Leafs make the deal based on the medical reports you see or are allowed to do on Eichel.

You run

Matthews - Eichel
Tavares - Nylander

you now need a guy on each line to play a 2oo foot game with speed and jam and can complement them.

We could put Eichel on LTIR and add him for the playoffs. Give TB some of their own medicine.

I'm telling you bro.... this is the move. 3 elite C's? When was the last time the league saw that? All three capable of running their own line. Also Eichel was well on his way of becoming a top 5 C in the league last year. Dude was a monster for a shoddy sabre team and put up 78 in 68. 94 pt, 43 goal pace.
If you make this move, Eichel or Tavares goes to the wing.

I liked this idea and made some moves and got it to fit on capfriendly. This is what I ended up doing

Major trades were

1. Muzzin to Philly for 14th pick + Wade Allison

2. Dermott+Engvall to Arizona for Crouse

3. Mikheyev to Detroit for a 3rd and a 5th

- You trade M.Marner to the Flyers for T.Konecny, J.van Riemsdyk, L.Hogberg, and 14th Overall Pick. Might seem like a bit much, but the Leafs taking back JVR's 2 years and 14 million dollars remaining, sorta off sets any contract concerns weighing down Marner's value. What this trade does - provide the Leafs with a 2 for 1 scenario, while also picking up a decent prospect (with Dermott leaving, and Sandin fully graduating, good to keep the cupboard stockpiled), and gives us a chance to be in the first round again for this draft. Perhaps we swing for the fences with a Aatu Raty, who has fallen down the rankings due to a not so great production year (I personally still think the high end potential is there).

Love this! Konency, as mentioned, is just what we need. He is young and getting better too. He may even end up being a 75-80 point guy. JVR is still producing. Yes, he's overpaid a bit, but it's just for 2 years. We would be getting 2 productive players for just over Marner's salary. We have to take salary back in a Marner deal regardless. Add the first round pick and prospect and I'm in! Would Philly do it though?

We need to turn Marner into a 5 million dollar winger who can score goals and then use the money to completely revamp/redevelop the 3rd line to compete in a marathon 4 rounds of playoffs against superior opponents.

Funny enough, that trade came from a Flyers fan

Didn't we run Kadri out of town for not being available in the play-offs? Muzzin has a similar problem.

no, we did not "run Kadri out of town."
Kadri's sheer stupidity getting suspended (a trait that continued in Colorado) is what got him traded.

Muzzin got knocked out by a hit, and pulled a groin.

comparing the two is like comparing an elephant to a mouse.

Fair enough. Konecny would be the perfect 5 million dollar winger though. Konecny with Matthews would work well.

Mice and elephants are both mammals.... and Kadri and Muzzin are both missing when we need them. Does it matter why they were unavailable? Maybe, but the result is the same.

So Chris Johnston speculates on the Steve Dangle podcast the Leafs are/were targeting a higher end player on an American non playoff team with years left on the contract. Here are some random guesses?

Jack Eichel - Buffalo
Travis Konecny - Philadelphia
Dylan Larkin - Detroit
Timo Meier - San Jose
Radek Faksa - Dallas
Roope Hintz - Dallas
Alex Iaffalo - Los Angeles

What even is this attempt at an argument? Yes, it matters why Kadri wasn't available. Through his specific actions and lack of appropriate decision making, he put his anger ahead of the team. TWICE. You can't compare that to someone getting injured.

Honestly I think its Ekblad. If you listen to how he worded it he said a player on a US based team with term, that didn't play any playoff games. Unique phrasin - a player the Leafs were rumored in on a few years ago. I would imagine if Florida is considering it it's because of ownership wanting to slash $ though.

Slightly different but you are ignoring his NTC.

Nothing stopping the Leafs from moving JVR.

Yeah I would go hard in the paint for that kind of franchise restructuring.

Management has to restructure the cap and make room. Otherwise it's nibbling around the edges, rearranging deck chairs and letting the organization fall apart via own rentals until the cap rises again. That's a no guy.

I'm loving Owen Power. Guy is a franchise changing defenseman.

To Toronto
1st overall pick (Owen Power)
Sam Reinhart
Rasmus Ristolainen

To Buffalo-
Mitch Marner
Justin Holl

I don’t think Buffalo does that. ESP if this is a game changing dman.

if anything try getting Dahlin. Hope the hype machine of a new dman and predictable media narratives drops his value a bit and swoop in on an extremely buy low
