Kekalainen would get drunk if he was able to trade Jones for Marner.

CBJ having a star forward locked in long-term would be a huge boon for them vs. a player entering his UFA year.

Maybe Dubas can get Jarmo to throw in Korpi to seal the deal. Marner at 6+m x 4 real dollars is a steal if cap space is not an issue. Mitch might even wake up Laine.

Hoping we can convince Ryan Getzlaf to come to Toronto st a Spezza to simmonds like contract

His stays were down this year but he wasn't trying as hard for the rebuilding ducks and the ducks also have 0 offensive weapons to play him with

I think if Getzlaf came here he could have a Spezza like resurgence and could be our 3C.

He's an elite playoff performer and has won a cup in the past who could give us leadership and hopefully play a big important role as our 3C

They would need to be certain he still had more legs than Jumbo which is tough unless they can do some kind of video analysis of his healthy stretches last season. He was still a good player two years ago so it it an off year from being hurt and on a shitty weak club or was age 36 the expiration date?

Joe Thornton's last season in San Jose was 7 goals and 31 points in 70 games at 15:30 per game.

Ryan Getzlaf this year in Anaheim was 5 goals and 17 points in 48 games at 16:35 per season.

Elliotte said he finds it hard to believe that the Leafs aren't considering Hamilton, and at some level are looking at how they can make it work.

I don't mind Hamilton but it only makes sense if you are trading a Marner.

Hamilton is a good player, but I don't feel like defence is this team's problem for the first time in what feels like an eternity. Our issue is we have zero depth scoring and no money to allocate towards that.

Our PP was attrocious considering the talent we have available. Adding a big shot from the point I think would open things up, because teams would have to adjust to cover the threat from Hamilton, making it easier for Matthews, Nylander, etc to score.

I think if we're serious about adding Hamilton, I think we need to move both Marner and Rielly. It's certainly realistic to expect we could land multiple top 6 forwards in trades for Marner + Rielly, as well as multiple high quality picks/prospects to round out the Marner trade. We'd end up with more capspace left over to upgrade the depth up front as well, and the picks/prospects would help us sustain the contending window longterm.

I think we can have a better PP, better #1D (which even if you think defence wasn't the problem, Rielly would certainly be an anomaly relative to how good your #1D typically needs to be to win the Cup), and significantly better depth up front by doing something like that, and still have Matthews + Tavares + Nylander up front as a core that's good enough to win with.

I am never moving Rielly to fit in Hamilton

First of all, Hamilton is going to f*** up our cap.

Second, Rielly is an all situations defender. Hamilton needs sheltered usage and is arguably the softest big man in the sport.

Butter soft D man? Sounds like a match made in heaven, but it’ll never happen, the fans demand more grit.......

King Henrick could be this year's Jumbo "value" signing :sarcasm:

I completely forgot about Henrick. Risky, but not a bad idea if the contract is low.
