Not as dumb as the idea that Seattle would take spezza in the XDMaybe someone who would like to make 6 figures next year.
What an idiotic conversation this is.

Martinez Vegas 9 goals 23 a 31 ptsIf the Leafs go out and sign Hamilton to huge dollars, then they deserve to constantly be on the outside of the playoffs looking in.
If they haven't learned their lesson that they need to balance out their roster, then we go back to the old insanity definition of expecting different results when they keep doing the same thing.
I would much rather fill out the defense with 3 guys that make 8mill total, than 1 guy that makes 8mill. Like Alex Goligoski put up 22 points, played 23 minutes a night and is the same liability defensively that Hamilton would be. Difference being you could get Goligoski at 1yr - 2mill. and be content playing him on the 3rd pairing. I'm not suggesting that they sign him, but that this option would spread the wealth and he's not blocking any rookies from playing.
You mean the guy who isn’t being dressed for the Habs this round? Yeah that’ll help......Tatar could be a good buy low candidate

We can’t rely on 4 guys to score all of our goals. We are going to lose Kerfoot, who was a contributor in the playoffs. Spezza can’t be expected to do as much as he did again
As much as we need a Goodrow/Coleman, we can use a Tatar as well.
Not sure he would be a good fit in our top 6, but I guess he could be a PP specialist and provide some offense on our 3rd line.
Ok, so Spezza gets exposed…. And that’s actually who I’d take if I’m Seattle.

Self assessment; I don't like how little cap space there is...odds of me being correct on contracts are low, although a few moves could be axed easily.
Was I too low on Saad, Granlund and Foligno? This flat cap is tough to tell.
McCabe made more last year from Sabres but he's missed a year.
Yeah we are not replacing Rielly with Sandin + McCabe. Not happening.
McCabe is really solid defensively.
Who the f**k is jfresh? Your going to use analytics to make your point? Too funny, if he’s soooooo good how come he can’t crack the line up in this round of the playoffs? That tells me all I need to know, although it might not be a factor since the Leafs are a playoff choke machine.......
I am sure he is. He's a really good bottom pairing guy. He's not capable of replacing Rielly. Especially not coming off of that injury.
How stupid would Ron Francis have to get over the next month to waste a pick on a guy who'd retire rather then play for your team?
Well he does throw them around like confetti......Depends entirely on the other options. If the options are Engvall, Dermott, Spezza, or Hutchinson.... maybe the idea of getting a pick out of Dubas is the best option.

Late 1st for Rielly? No thanks.
Also, 100% against sending Dermott to Colorado.
Rielly hasn’t been the same player of late, too much virtue....1. I'm okay with a 1st for Rielly, it beats watching countless guys like JVR, Bozak, Hyman, Barrie etc walk for nothing.
2. Why? Jost's a real nice add for us. Very good 5v5 defensively. Someone else can play Dermott's 10-12 minutes a night.
