i would much prefer joey anderson over simmonds at this point(although that might be the hyman replacement) simmonds is ok(not much more imo) until he inevitably gets injured.

that would mean he would have to play a few inches taller himself. sorry, i just didnt see any bump in physicality in our team or from wayne himself over what we have had in the past outside of a few fights. imo, sandin played "tougher" and laid more guys out then simmonds lol.

I like Cizikas as a depth player, but given his reputation, he'll be way too expensive for the Leafs. They're already struggling with depth players like Mik/Engvall at their cap hits. There's no room to add bottom-six players at double the price.

I checked out and Josi has been point wise a bit better on the PP, but his (game itself) is so much better IMO.... he more solid and firm, as rielly doesn't bring that much good thangs on the PP, as josi always is that rock solid, even when he doesn't scesore sire. I don't think nashville would give up their (capitano) for our sucka for life. Rielly can get us other playaz and playettez, but a josi.... me do not even dream of it. Of course I would like to see a dream of it. With a beautiful girl too, maybe a brunette, cause me got an african based one miself, but that would only be a dream milord. I realize he didn't play his best hockey. But he definitely hit more than Sandin. And mostly, it's a presence. People in the show know Simmonds is a tough customer. Reeves could look totally disconnected from a game and I still wouldn't run is liney lol

Thoughts on Hjalmarsson on a short-term deal?

I think he comes cheaper than Oleksiak who's value will be driven up by his time spent on Dallas' first pair, albeit a small sample size.

At the same time, I have a hard time pegging Hjalmarsson's projected cap hit at age 34 with a flat cap. If he comes in under 3.5m, he could be an excellent mentor for Sandin/Liljegren while improving the PK and adding winning pedigree to the blueline. High battle level.

If Garland is available as rumoured, that is absolutely a player I would hope the Leafs would target. Would be an excellent compliment to our guys in the top 6.

I'm really interested to seeing the price tag on him. Both in trade and his contract.

Spezza has publicly proclaimed he'd simply retire if he was claimed off waivers...if he retires after being claimed by SEA, would they just get stuck with a 750k cap hit because he's 35+?

No, I don't believe there's a lot of risk in Simmonds getting claimed by Seattle.

Eh, the Hoffman stuff was disproven tbh. Karlsson's wife thought it was Hoffman's wife harassing her anonymously online, which caused a rift in the Sens room. It later came out that it actually wasn't Hoffman's wife. There's been no issues before or after that.

But yes, he isn't good defensively. So not sure it's a fit anyway

Cizikas would be nice, but he's going to be out of our price range and I genuinely believe he's going to be an islander for a long time. They love him there.

Sean Kuraly is another target I'd like to have. Hardnosed, Fast and Physical. Perfect 4th line player. If not Kuraly, maybe trade for Foegle from Carolina?
