I'll say it again - good buy-low grinder could be Nicholas Caamano out of Dallas. Plays the right side, 6'3", mucks it up, and had good offensive production in the A on a team with basically no one other than J Robertson whom he out produced in PPG.

These are the types of guys we need to find. We need to find guys before they establish themselves and get them at good value.

We should be giving Joey Anderson a shot. We should be hoping Semyonov can transition.

there’s a couple interesting options like Caamano that we can try and acquire.

I’m for Galchenyuk coming back to see if he Tavares and Nylander can continue their chemistry they showed as a line. Because if he can, Galchenyuk at 1M or so will be tremendous value.

It’s all about value to the dollar. It’s why Spezza is so valuable. It’s why Perry is so valuable to MTL. It’s why Hyman has been so valuable to this point.

It’s all nice to dream of the Blake Coleman’s of the world, and I would take a run at Goodrow if you can get him around 2M, but you need cheap guys who can outplay their cap hit as well.

That’s something Simmonds and Thornton didn’t do this year.

I'd expect the Leafs to trade Kerfoot before the expansion draft for a draft pick instead of losing him for nothing and then have Seattle take there choice in Engvall or Dermott in the expansion draft.

Depending on the return i just let them take Kerfoot. Dermott might even have move trade value so why not trade him and/or Dermott and leave Seattle with nothing?

Rielly and Holl out. DeAngelo and Oleksiak in. Assuming this board is not on the cancel culture train, if TD convinces the club he isn't a loose cannon, his offense balances out the loss of Rielly and we have a new look D plus some assets. I think Rielly + Holl costs more than DeAngelo plus Oleksiak in a couple of years as Holl ain't resining for $2M. I am not as worried as some about DeAngelo's issues with his NY team mates. Getting in a physical altercation with another player is a bell you can't un-ring but a new club is a reset right? Is Kyle the GM who can straighten him out? Is Keefe a coach who can?

Cancel culture? DeAngelo is a complete headcase and this management and coaching staff haven't proven they can control or straighten out anybody at this point

No thanks

Those two players do not replace the two guys your moving on from

I think this sums it up better. I am sure they were trying really hard and gave a great effort trying to "push that door open". Not going to have a lot of success though. That is what we did Games 5-7.

Also like how it is a "school for the gifted" since we are a really high IQ team who can make really high end plays, yet we make a lot of stupid mistakes.

As for running it back, I think the issues you are pointing out won't be solved by running it with a different team either.
That does sum it up better the more I think about it, good point. A guy like Marner was trying, it's why he was about to cry after the delay of game in game 6. He cares and I think it's getting to him too much. With that being said, the effort is lacking in terms of intensity and willing to take a hit to make a play. There this team does lack in comparison to other clubs in the playoffs. I watch Tampa and see everyone finishing checks and playing the body with high intensity. Our series felt like game 48 of 82 in comparison.

How so? It appears this core has a problem rising when it matters. There's been countless examples of it occurring whether is was this year, last year, or 2019. A change to the base of the club might be able to ignite something. Teams like the Blues and Caps changed around core pieces until it fit, I don't think we should be married to our core 4.

I usually hate hyperbole, but my first thought was sure why don't we also go after that Kings D I won't name who elbowed his girlfriend down a flight of stairs while we are at it?

Sorry - no place for advocacy for a guy who's made a name for himself practicing prejudice while punching teammates out for nothing. It's not just a fight with a teammate, and we should stand for more than that here, no matter how good or bad we are.

Horrible, horrible suggestion.

Actually it should be Muzzin/Rielly out and Oleksiak/Dunn in. Then use the cap savings to upgrade Holl and add a scoring LW.

Nothing wrong with a blueline of Rielly-Brodie, Muzzin-Liljegre, Sandin-Holl, and Dermott as a spare. The only reason to move Rielly is if you're out of the play-off and can't resign him. You aren't upgrading either Rielly or Holl without paying more money.

Kerfoot, Mikheyev, and Engvall can be upgraded - mainly in style of play - for less money. That's where Dubas should focus.

People are crying about cap space. I'm offering a solution.

Would love to target Givani Smith from the Red Wings.

Young, physical Toronto kid who can be a potential staple in our bottom 6. Shouldn’t cost too much either

DeAngelo is a cancer, the last thing this core needs is more high maintenance players. Regardless of skill set, character should be priority one on any incoming players.

He definitely wouldn't cost much as he might be a waiver wire candidate this upcoming season. Could be a decent throw-in into a Dermott to Detroit move.

Dermott would be a Detroit Red Wing likely target. Outside of Seider and Hronek they don't have much ready right now. Dermott likely slots into their top 4.

Proposal - Dermott for Givani Smith and Detroit's 2021 second. (At the draft)

Slot in Sandin into Dermott's spot.
Sign a big veteran to play alongside Sandin like Bogosian or K. Miller.

We can then trade down with our own second to grab a late second and an early third like our deal with Ottawa last draft.

There is zero shot that they bring him in.

I think the Leafs should trade Sandin for a 1st rounder-if possible, before everyone realize he is too small and not a good enough skater to compensate for his size in the NHL.

Too soft. Need to bring back Bogosian or another big, mean guy.

We don’t have the cap space for an overhaul. Bogosian would be fine, but only if he comes in cheaper than Holl.

No need for an overhaul, just Bogo or someone like him. It would not be wise to try to work in two smallish rookies on D next year.

I don’t think we have the cap space to bring back Bogosian without moving Holl.

We have much bigger needs on forward, and limited cap space.

Your solution is to demolish our blueline?

Neither player I suggested is a massive step down. In fact they are younger and at least Dunn is still getting better.

Anyway, significantly less dumb than wanting to trade a Marner or Nylander.
